Can some one explain to me why we weren't in for him before Man U signed him?

Were we ever interested whilst he was at Forest?

Seems to me that he could have been a key signing for us at the time.
    Really?

in a nutshell, he had been unsettling a lot of the team with backstabbing abd slagging off the manager, l, mccarthy was not to happy with the set up the roi board had got for them at the wc. he called a team meeting and explained not much was right but we are here lets make the best of a bad situation......Keane had been having sly digs here and there and blamed mccarthy for a lot of it. in the meeting keane had said something about fergusons leadership skills and that he wouldnt have left anything to chance, ....i cant remember if it was on the coach or the field but basically later that day keane said something to the tune of 'for ****s sake its like playing for the rangers again. Mccarthy blew up and said look if you have got a problem, lets hear it...... in front of the whole team he called him a second grade manager not fit to manage in the lower divisions - said his training was **** and he had left everyhting to chance.......Mccarthy called him a disgrace and not fit to where the shirt......
      and off they both went!!!

he could have turned out ****e too though mate. he looked promising at forest but no more than that. No0one could have predicted he was going to have quite such an impact on the game. I mean, you could say exactly the same thing about every player that went on to have a good career with other clubs

Keane was mr billy big bollox just like shearer was for england.....treating youngsters with contempt and mocking them with the whold do you know who i am bollox
Yeah and? Arguements that would never have happened had the McCarthy done his job right in the first place. The 2 of them hadn't got on for years yet it was always kept professional until then so it could've been kept professional throughout the WC if McCarthy hadn't ****ed up the prep and then goaded Keane into blowing his top at the team meeting. I've already said he's a manc **** but even if he did act the billy big bollix like shearer he was still head and shoulders above everyone else in that squad so he had a right to spout if everyone else was accepting poor standards that he didn't believe was right.Your mate should have backed him up instead of doing the usual Irish" ah sure its great to be here " crap.

Ive always rated Keane as a player, I love his attitude, desire and ****ing work ethic. If our team, especially Mr Gerrard, showed half that desire week in week out we would be on No.29 now. Soft cunts need to show desire!! Jamie & Sami aside.

I can`t understand how a player of Keanes quality ended up being managed by a fool like Mc Carthy.keane was totally justified with his complaints with mcCarthy and The Fai.he was the only professional involved in the whole debacle.

Firstly I hated Keane in a united shirt but he was a magnificent players, the closest thing I have seen to Souness, the best irish midfielder of our generation and possibly the best midfielder of the "premiership" era. I have to admit though at the time of the "saipan" incident I thought his actions were a disgrace. I honestly believe that Irish team at that time had a good shout at getting to the Semi's if not further until he "left" the squad. In hindsight I don't think Keane was totally at fault, McCarthy and the FAI take equal blame. It should never have been allowed to escalate as it did and was a "fiasco" in the end. Personal feelings took over from proffessional conduct and in the end the irish supporters suffered.
