Fernando Torres back in action for the FA Cup tie against Barnsley

Rafael Benitez has revealed that star striker Fernando Torres could be back in action for the FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Barnsley next Saturday.

The Spanish star picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty in a friendly against France last Wednesday. However, the player is making good progress and Benitez is confident he will be back available for selection ahead of the Champions League clash with Inter Milan.

"Maybe Fernando will be available for the weekend against Barnsley," said Benitez. "We will have to see.

"We have time now and the physios are working really hard with him. He is very optimistic so I think he could be available for the weekend."

I hope he's rested next weekend. Surely we could beat Barnsley without Torres. No need to risk him is there

I'd be surprised if he plays against Barnsley. Surprised and pissed off.

That will probably be the case. But if he's in consideration for the weekend then its a good sign for the Inter game. Before this i didn't think he'd make it.

There is no way I would risk Torres next weekend, Crouch should be good enough

Far too early for a hamstring tear.

Yeah would think Dirk and Peter could quite easily handle Barnsley at home, not to take Barnsley lightly but based on that performance against Chelsea we are in good shape at the moment

Surely he would be rested until the Inter game? Barnsley? Yossi hatrick, Torres doesn't need to play.

No need for him to play against Bansley.

Making sure he is cherry ripe for Inter is priority number one!

Crouch and Flossy can handle Barnsley.
