Recon lots of our senior players will be rested for Inter next week.
Stevie, Nando, masher on the bench.

I think Nemeth, Insua and Pacheco should all start.

Thinking about it, with the injuries we've got, we're pretty fecked for barnsley...

If we rest torres and crouch, who plays up front with kuyt?

With agger out, and carra rested, do we risk sami and skrtel against barnsley?

Who plays CM with Lucas (if we're resting mascher, stevie and xabi)?

Barnsley IS still a game we have to win.

In the big cup games Rafa likes to go for the jugular early. To surprise the opposition. Witness Kewell in Athens instead of Didi.

I think he may start with a 4-4-2 against Inter. We will know at the weekend. If all 3 are rested, I'm wrong.

That should do it and leaves out the big guns as well. I think Skrtel needs all the match practice he can get as well.
              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

                Kuyt upfront on his own??
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Like many others in thisd thread, I think it would be silly to risk Torres against Barnsley.

Looks like a decent side to me.

Carra, Gerrard, Crouch, Babel & Martin on the bench in case of disasters.

I'd like to see Nemeth get a game.

A run out would be good for the lad.
A start is a bit too much.

Insua to start would have been good.

people saying that, I assume the lad's having a good season for the reserves, what's his record like?

Im all for resting Torres and maybe one or two others for this one but a word of caution.

This is a mid table Championship side we are playing, not a non-league side (we even struggled against non-league opposition). They are above Sheffield Untied, Coventry and Southampton in the table. They will not be a walk over. We will still need a strong side to make sure we see them off. I would start with some of the big guns and try to get a decent half time lead under our belts then take off our "stars" (fading stars some of them!) once the game is in the bag:

                            ------------Itandje
                            Finnan--Skrtel--Hyypia-Riise
                            Pennant-Gerrard-Xabi-Babel-
                            ---------Kuyt--Crouch-----

Players like Nemeth can maybe have a place on the bench and get a bit of game time if things go to plan.

Probably not all three, no. Perhaps though.

Either way, i'm sure rafa would like to feel as though all three are guaranteed to be 100% fit and available for selection, even if he's only likely to use two of them.

Cant be playing Crouch or Gerrard against Barnsley. No way.
