....'Tom Hicks knows that in the long run we will be 100 per cent owners of the club but we are prepared to play a waiting game'

I really hope them comments from Staveley do not piss Hicks off, unless of course there is an agreement down the line.

DIC are hoping that they will get in the the fans will then drive Hicks out of the club with weekly protests.

Imagine, after the deal, DIC declare that they want to invest £80m in strengthening the team in the summer but Hicks refuses to match the investment.

        He can't win this battle.

I think people are getting too hung up on the 49% thing. The key thing is Stavey's quote where she said they will be buying 100% eventually (it's in the Independent). Add that to the fact of rumours doing the rounds that Hicks needs to be a majority holder in Liverpool to float his franchises in America then this just seems like an agreement to placate Hicks and sweeten him up for the future.

DIC have never struck me as stupid. If they're paying off the loans and promising funds for the new Stadium, they know that they are more than 49% shareholders. It's obvious. They would never get into an arrangement in which they'd be obvious losers. I think in their agreements there will be stipulations and conditions where they get an equal say in the running of the club...or else they'd never agree to dishing out that much to Gillett and taking a back seat.

I'll be over the moon if DIC seal the deal for 49% because I believe they'll be equal in the partnership with Hicks even though the 49% says they aren't

DIC are extremely successful. On the outside it seems they're losing out...but I think there are details within the deal that none of us are aware

          Anyone agree?

You should have a look at some of the posts on RAWK-some of the guys there are ready to top themselves cos of this 49% thing. Calling it another black day for the club etc, etc. Can DIC be that stupid? NO.

As someone on here said the other day the fans will treat DIC like the owners anyway and Lard arse and his idiot son are desperate for fan approval so they might even start behaving themselves.

DIC, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum, would agree to take on the £350m debt arranged by the Americans in a controversial re-financing deal earlier this year.

I dont quite get this. Why would DIC take over the whole $350M debt or Hicks share of it when they are just buying out GG?

Just shows that DIC isn't in this to make a profit. They simply won't get that kind of money back in the next 20+ years.

They want us to be their crown jewel and is ready to splash the cash.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Figures quoted in the torygraph suggest 90M would cover GG's share of the debt? Complicated.

It is a mouth watering prospect, Recruiting the very best to play alongside Torres, Carra, Gerrard, Babel, etc.

Yes... ordinarily 49% means no rights over the 51% holder but with a 60 page shareholder agreement there's bound to be some rights for DIC otherwise they wouldn't buy in, especially taking on that whole debt.

One thing I have seen in the past is the minority shareholder can pour investment into the business but it doesn't immediately dilute the shareholding... instead the additional equity sort of goes "on hold" until a pre-determined date or event in the future when it suddenly triggers more equity.

I think it has been said before, I would imagine that DIC want to keep the septic tank in the frame because of the stadium design and planning permission for the said stadium.

Let Hicks be the saviour of LFC by bring in a stadium that competes with the big boys and then buy the guy out. Hick goes away feeling like he left something the fans should thank him for, thus erasing the memories and the lies (he hopes) and he walks head held high. DIC get what they want and so does he.

                            Thoughts?

They can only dillute Hicks stake with Hicks' agreement

Hicks could just sit there and say put your £80 million in I'm doing feck all

I dont understand how DIC are going to win this from a minority holding and force Hicks to do anything. The devil is in the details I suppose and the Hicks Sports group sell off and in particular the "subject to stringent minority shareholders rights" comment coupled with the report they are transferring the debt to one of their own subsidiary companies and fiancing the stadium are important factors in how they will gain the upperhand

The worst thing is its going to mean the scenario doesnt end, this is going to be a long term project and it could be years before Hicks is gone
