I remember reading Phil Neals( i think) now that was a good book as well as talkin about his career he discussed his views on other teams tactics even politics-- I think it was Neals it was around 15 yrs ago.anybody remember it
Remember it! Good read. Good subject matter though! LFC winning everything
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.
Tip: If you only ever read ONE footy player's autobiography read Harald (Toni) Schumacher's. I forget the title but it's ****in' ace. He tells the truth about the Battiston challenge. How it happened (v plausable! by the way) and how he later became one of Battiston's closest buddies. He slaughters the German national players of that time not least Mattheus who at one world cup in Mexico '86 actually measured his hotel room with a tape! Then complained about the captain not having the largest room. It caused uproar in Germany to this day I think. Read it. It's fantastic!
It's called "Blowing the Whistle" an available on Amazon.

What did you expect a 25 year to write in his autobiography?
It was alrite, nothing special but an insight into our captain's life, thats all.Afteral, all he is is a very talented footballer from a very average background.
I'm one of those that feels that footballers should write these books once they have hung up their boots.

'Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple.'

Apparently he thinks HE is mates with Battiston now but Battiston wants nothing to do with him. Or so im told anyway.
I thought Pele's autobiography was a very good read!
He did it the right way imo when he had finished his career when he had something interesting to write about not like these over payed pre madonas in their mid twenties
no disrespect to stevie g of course
I don't care as long as we finish above the blue ****e
Phil Thompson's Autobiography ('Stand up Pinnochio') is a decent read. I read it straight after I'd read Fowler's book so it was a nice balance with regards to the incident before the Community Shield match and Fowler subsequently leaving.
He comes across as a stubborn, arrogant spoilt little brat.
Have to agree, the whole Chelsea/contract sage was the biggest example - Whining about Liverpool not putting a contract on the table, yet in the next sentence he says that they came to him 3 times during the season but he wanted to wait until he knew if we would be in the Chamions League, etc.
DOnt know whether it was just poorly worded or something, but he came across as thinking he was all that.
