Trying to find similarities between 2005 and 2008. Would Istanbul in 2005 be the furthest east the final has been played because Moscow 2008 will be the most easternmost final in history??
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

I agree, there's no chance manure will make the final

            Glass half full? Half empty?

I just say I'm half way to my next pint.

Another, Stevie G has scored in the last 4 games. The same as he did in the 2004-2005 group stage.

Personally I can't see us winning the competition this season in fact I think Inter will beat us but I must say I admire the optimism of the others in the thread and hope that I will be proven wrong.
                  Happy to be proven wrong.

You and me both mate. In the current woeful form we were in (the only teams we've beaten this year are Luton, Havant and Sunderland!) we had no right to expect to beat Inter Milan - unbeaten in 29 games and five months. Absolutely no right at all.

                    But this is Liverpool FC.

You've summed it up perfectly there Shaggy.

This year we have now beaten Luton, Havant and Waterlooville, Sunderland & Inter Milan.
