Thought Kuyt played well today.
Showed glimpses of what he can do.
Some great lay off's and through balls, a couple of great crosses pitty no one in the box.
I do like Crouch though but it does seem to be more and more that 4 4 2 isn't the bee all and end all. Look at the mancs.
With players like Babel, Yossi, Kuyt and Torres we have players that can play the channels and also the forward possition's. i.e. players that play more than one possition.
IMO the important player in this set up is Stevie as he's the "hole" free role player and he should be brilliant at this but either doesn't want to play there or just isn't understanding the role. Its times like these we learn to live again FF

polish a turd all you want, we'll pick up this conversation at the end of the season. Maybe he's improved because he no longer has the pressure of being a striker, But he ain't no rw either, i've yet to see him beat a man in that position.
It's funny how some on here resort to the typical support your team bollocks. Like everyone else i do support my team but kuyt is what he is. Whilst i applaud his work ethic his talent is lacking.
But then I'm sure all you kuyt lovers who want people like me to love the lad else its a clear statement of me not backing my team were also in love with cisse, donkey, nunez, etc. Hypocrites!

you mock soemone by saying he scores goals (one absolutely crucial)Originally posted by rage View Postkuyt had a good game when? oh yea good game by his standards means he had a shot saved, 1 shot but nevermind thats progress.
against inter he got a deflection, but don't let that stop u
as for scoring against barnsly, great well done.
keep him another season i say, no infact lets make him captain.

When were these 3 games? He was woeful again yesterdayOriginally posted by The Wolfman View Post3 good games in a row.
Thought he has done well.
Looking like he will finish the season strongly.
Babbel is getting more comfortable in the prem too.
Would just like to see xabi hitting a bit of form/playing soon, as this formation will suit his game perfectly. He can dictate our play from there.
Rafa has managed to turn a prolific goalscorer into a slow, ineffective, unskillful winger. And I certainly think Crouch and Torres could work, they're both very intelligent players, there's much more to Torres than just pace and for me Crouch looks like a threat whoever he's playing against. He and Pennant transformed the Inter game and then were dropped against Boro how disheartening must that be?Monkey Tennis

Kuyt was excellent on Tuesday night and scored. Crouch came on and did **** all yet HE transformed the game?
Pennant may have had an impact when he came on but Crouch did not. As for being woeful yesterday??
****in joke.

I've never been a Dirk fan personally, but he wasn't woeful. He's had 3 good games. You have to give credit where it's due or what's the point in watching a game at all.Originally posted by hamshanks View PostWhen were these 3 games? He was woeful again yesterday

I hope Kuyt is sold in the summer. He clearly doesn't have a position he excels in for us.Hard working is simply not enough from a 10m striker.
His footballing ability is quite average in all areas, imo.
Very frustrating.-----------------------------------------------

To dismiss the impact of crouch though, is silly. He disrupts defences and causes confusion. Who do you think played a part in that cross even REACHING Kuyt? They both have their strengths (ironically, strength isnt one of them!)

I don't. Pretty clear to me that Torres and Crouch played for the same position. That's why Crouch doesn't start ahead of him!Originally posted by DJS View PostI think that the suggestion of it being either crouch or torres, but not both, is daft in the extreme.Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

They do both have their strengths and i'm not dismissing the fact that he causes confusion. Teams like Inter don't know how to handle him. I accept that. However, my post was in response to hamshanks who basically dismissed that Kuyt had a good game on Tuesday and placed more importance on Crouch coming on (and imo doing very little when he did) than Kuyt playing well and scoring a vital goal. I think that's balls.
Also, are you saying he didn't play well yesterday?RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFAEL BENITEZ!
