Thanjk you.

That was surely about Houllier wanting to have his ego massaged. When Wenger moved Kolo Toure from midfield to centre back he was hailed as some kind of genius. Ged couldn’t resist trying to do the same.
Great see Igor add this success to his Champions League winners medal.
Let that sink in.
I thought he looked a useful player under Benitez, but Houllier killed him. If you take out the second half of 2000/01 season, and the 01/02 season (where we finished runners up), Houllier was ****ing ****e for the rest of his 4 and a half years. ****e at developing players too, so many never progressed.
Have to agree with you there. Houllier got lucky with a **** treble. UEFA win was awful....embarrassing even. I hated the way Evans got shafted. Phil Thompson did a great job while Houllier was sick but didn't get any credit. ****in hated the stories of him gate crashing 2005 and claiming it was his team!

It was Rafa's win...all the way.
Never heard this before, where is that from? Is it like a real story or just some crazy fan theory/conspiracy doing the rounds?

He went into the dressing room and a few times since has kinda claimed some credit for it. In fact there's some new documentaries at the moment, building up to the World Cup (I saw them on Now TV)....there's one series called Godfathers of Football, and Houllier is the focus of one of them. It's just a sit down interview about his career. In that he says "one of the players told me in the dressing room in Istanbul that this win 'is down to you boss, and our experiences in winning the UEFA Cup in 2001'"
He's claimed varying degrees of credit several times.
“When the team played in Istanbul I was invited into the changing room and it was a great emotional moment.
“I felt shy sitting in the corner and some of the players came and hugged me – practically all of them did – and they said ‘this is your team, this is our team’.
“And funnily enough, apart from two players, they had been signed or developed under me.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The thing is most of what he says is fair enough, he just ruins it all by gatecrashing the credit for Istanbul. For one thing, he would never have coached a team that came back from 3-0 down at half time. Also doesn’t the six trophies he talks about includes the Charity shield?
The Liverpool chairman once told me ‘you put the club in to the 21st century in terms of facilities and culture and training’. We finished fourth, third, second, fifth and fourth in the Premier League – but the title was too far. One year we had 80 points and finished second to Arsenal. My regret was not winning the league.
“But if you said ‘win silverware’, well we won six trophies. If you say ‘we have to leave a legacy’ we did that too in terms of players and culture.
“Players progressed. Michael Owen won the European Footballer of the Year, the Ballon d’Or.
“The same way Cristiano Ronaldo won it because of the Manchester United environment, Owen won it because of the Liverpool environment.”

Utter nonsense
It was a fantastic year - one of the best as a LFC fan.....
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

I over stated it, sorry.
Not a **** year year but not the best either. I was born in 1969. Grew up with winning everything year after year. Just don't think that that treble and the manner in which we won in was the best.
