Thanjk you.

I think losing that final is one of best things to happen to us.
We would have landed Gotze instead of Mane in the summer, been in the CL the following year and probably missed out top 4 due to playing twice a week.
Klopp got to use that time to train the squad properly and get CL football, then comes VVD, then the CL final and the signing of Alisson. The rest is history.

Was thinking about that last night with Jota, if you believe that Sarr was out first choice. Similarly with Robbo and Chilwell. If Rodgers had his way it would have been Benteke only and no Firmino.
Any other fortituous transfers?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I don't think Sarr was ahead of Jota myself, I think we would have happily had both though if Origi/Wilson/Shaq moved on.
Klopp wanted Brandt. Edwards/Ian Graham convinced them to go for Salah.
I think Trent is an interesting one, if Clyne stayed fit he might not had a sniff at the first team and I wonder where he'd be now.

Quite possibly. Although we definitely seemed to approach Sarr first, so maybe if Watford were more flexible with their payment structure, it might have been Jota who was sacrificed when we couldn't offload the players you mentioned.
Ahh, good shout with Brandt, I knew there was something with the Salah deal but couldn't remember the details.
Wrecking my brain, but who was Clyne's main deputy before Trent? All I can think of is Flanagan, but I can't remember him getting a regular run at RB, just a couple of games after he came back from loan and it was obvious injuries robbed him of any ability he previously had. There was obviously someone else though and I just can't think who. Gomez maybe?
I do think Klopp deserves a lot of credit for Trent though. Unlike with Phillips and Williams were we don't really have a choice but to play them, Klopp could have brought in anoter RB and I remember applauding him at the time for taking a gamble on a unknown kid.

Easy to sneer now cos he doesn't seem to be playing very well, but he was in great form for us at the time and he was a big miss. This stank then, and it stinks now.
