****ing hell. Footballers are over paid, of course, whatever, but it breaks my heart that a lad from a working class background, who has had it all, can’t get the right advice, and the right financial care, from the people around him to not go broke.

The money he made should have sorted him and his family for generations. He was probably robbed by the people advising him.

A lot of these players don't have to lift a finger or think about a single thing all of their lives. They are put on a pedestal and have smoke blown up their arse from the age of 10 years old where they all think that they are suoerstars. Then they are dropped as soon as they stoo playing. Take a tiger thar was born in the zoo and drop him into the wild and watch what happens.

Being bankrupt doesn't mean youre on the bones of your arse though.

Half the time people declare themselves as being bankrupt to just get out of debt. They bounce back and still have assets galore in trusts etc.

Pretty hard to feel sorry for these guys either way though. They earned millions of dollars over their careers and if theyve blown all that gambling, and buying **** then thats on them really isn't it.

People far worse off in the world that deserve sympathy than a uber rich footballer that wasted his fortune.

But thats just me.
