He kind of was. In that they both played, from the start.

Winning the CL would be ample consolation for our title challenge. We exist to win trophies. I'd love it to be the Prem but I think I could live with No. 6 - I know the Mancs, Arse and Chavs would give their left nuts for it.

He kind of wasn't. They both played but then Carragher and Gerrard both played too but I wouldn't describe them as being paired in midfield together.

Crouch played left-wing with Voronin on the right.

        A demented decision.

I would have gone with left sided forward.
We played similar formation to that last season a few times and it worked well.

Yeah we seemed to have a phase of playing all three strikers against weaker sides (West Ham away, being one) and it worked well, with Crouch as the fulcrum, Bellamy on the left and Kuyt on the right.

            Crouch on the left though...

I love Rafa but that was possibly the worst of a few demented decisions made this season.

So if it's just the winning trophies bit that matters, would you have been happy with a 5th placed finish and winning the carling cup?

Do you think the carling cup is comparable to the CL?

Where did i say it was?

The point was made that it's about winning silverware, trophies...the CC is a piece of silverware and a trophy.

So i think i've proved that it's actually NOT sufficient to just win silverware, but be useless in the league.

i think the point is that the CL is a league for europes top clubs (hence the L in the tiltle
very different than the carling Cup

very similar to the one you get for winning the prem.

In which case, if all we're fussed about is winning trophies, as opposed to actually holding a league position to be proud of, 5th place and the Carling Cup should get the open top bus out...

                            calm down dear

the CL has a league stucture in the first round pitting you against some of europes finest, the carlin/fa cup doesnt.

the premiership is our main priority and this year (so far) it has been a dissapointment but to compare the CL with the carling cup is ludicrous even for you DJS

I'm not comparing them...it should be fairly easy to grasp the point i'm making.

                              SHOULD BE anyway.

I think only "ol big ears" would warrant an open top bus.
