Those stats are extremely dubious as they often don't include the incremental payments for Rooney (I've seen this "comparison" before and it listed Rooney as £18m ), failed to mention the departure of Garcia (amongst others ) and had Lucas down as costing £8m .

It is also an extremely selective stat to suit an argument.

Ferguson spent about £70m in the two or three years prior, and on players who are still in his squad - Ferdinand, Ronaldo, Saha etc. Why should they just be conveniently forgotten about?

I've seen various reports, ones from when rafa took over, others from when the PL began and all reports show that LFC have generally spent, give or take £10m, the same as United.
