To be fair and objective (i know it doesnt go down well here ) all that happened was that Lucas' leg was on the way down and when it came down, it collided with Burdisso - rather than Burdisso taking Lucas out. From where the ref was looking, it was a clear booking but on seeing the replays, i think it could've been 50/50. If you watch it again, you'll see what i mean. Lucas actually catches Burdisso with his downward-dropping leg. No intent on either part.

He is supposed to be this hybrid of winger and striker yet offers poor final product and lack of goal threat. This is the sort of mediocrity that has held us back for years in terms of winning the title.

I don't need to watch it again, I know exactly what you mean. Gray failed to take into consideration the view the ref had and the fact that Burdisso was reckless in the extreme, especially when you consider he'd already been booked. Gray never sees the full picture, ever. He makes a rash call and sticks to it, no matter what the replays show.

It might have been slightly harsh but it was an understandable booking - not "a shocking mistake". Gray made it sound as poor a decision as the Finnan/Chelsea penalty incident at Anfield earlier this season.
