Possibly, I know if that was Crouch it would've been a foul for sure.

defence were woeful, carra doesnt trust skyrtl or arbeloa, either does pepe, rafa should have gone for the most experienced that he could have imo, we were beaten in the air everytime, sami should have played imo, skytrl is too rash and not clever enough, ball over the top to rooney 2 times, didnt have a clue where the player or the ball were.

masch asked for it, kept on at the ref, saw him mouth f*** off a good few times, and myself and my mates agreed he was going to get sent off, then 2 minutes later he runs about 20 yards to give the ref lip, i hope this is the last time he ever does this in a red shirt , so imo it was a sending off, anyway not good seeing one of our players behave like this.

xabi is a shadow of his former self, even when he and masch were on the pitch together , i didnt see them control the game at all, a real disapointment, i thought we would boss the centre.

at the moment, defence is the worry against the best teams for me

thought overall, we were poor, overawed.

bad selections and bad performances, still a way behind , off the back of 5 wins ( 5 that we should win)

          Scum.

Goes without saying for that sub human lot. ****ing scum.

Just a shame Mascherano got sent off for yapping, should've broken Ronaldo's legs, then it would've been worth something.

Just a word about Rafa, ****e perfromace, especially the subs, did absolutely nothing.

Reality check time, still lot's of changes needed before we're good enough.
I wish you'd stop sitting on the fence.

good stuff there brother. masher'ssending off was obviously coming. midfield outplayed again by superior creative players - this stifling of tams has a limited shelf-life. as a big fan and supporter of xabi i was very disappointed with him. still though - people have ignored and underestimated scholes for years now and he's still probably the best central midfielder in the premiership. and anderson will follow inhis footsteps. 2 creative midfilelders and one stopper (carrick) pays dividends longterm if they're good enough.

basically it was first (at home) against fourth (10 men) - what the **** do we expect? bench showed our actual lack of quality.

                  I thought that too
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                    My two'penny worth:

Reina and crosses... but he alone kept the score from being six - nil.

Where was Gerrard? Both in footballing terms and the Mascherano situation?

Poor Alonso - something's gone wrong with him and he is perhaps becoming a liability?

Same applies to Carragher - not sure what he is adding to the team now (for a while, really).

Completely played off the pitch - first 5 mins told me we were out to kill the game - this must be Benitez in action. Once you start a game like that it's very difficult to change it.

                    Mascherano was good and stupid.

Scholes was the best player out there - by a mile.

Our team are still lacking the moral courage needed in the big games. This has nothing to do with how 'good' the players are. You can be crap but at least you have a go. You put in honest effort - you try to play the game as you feel it should always be played. Kuyt, anyone? Worked so hard for the team yet again. Torres too.

                    Bad day.

...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

                    A defensive mid for £18m?

Gerrard was a ****in disgrace, not for the first time against United.

their psychological edge over us is worrying, we have no balls when we play against them. we allow them to bully us. we are obviously not at their level in terms of players but when you don't have the players you can make up for it with effort and aggression. for some reason against them we look scared, this pisses me off to no end. there's no belief, this was evident in our loss to them at anfield earlier in the season as well

our captain goes missing, seems like he can't be bothered to fight against our biggest rivals (this has been the case for quite a few seasons in a row), it's as if he's resigned to losing and sulking before the match is even over. if he's not willing how is the rest of the team going to react? alonso is too soft in these games for my liking, mentally and physically. these are two of our more experienced and senior players, if they don't get it together it's hard to expect players like babel and the low on confidence kuyt to step it up to the required level

Pako, at the beginning of the season, said we wouldn't win the league for two years because the team wasn't mentally tough enough. Seems he was right!
