Last night was the most I've ever loved Dirk. What a hero. Fighting, running, tackling. He is a human brick wall at times.

He'll never, ever make a centre-forward at the highest level - we all know that - but this stint on the right has saved his LFC career IMO.

Simple, if 4231 is the way forward next year, Dirk stays, there is certainly a place in the squad for him.

If 442 is the preference, I don't see Kuyt having a future - for all his hard work and running, he wont be effective enough as a RM in a midfield 4, and he isn't good enough for one of the two positions up top.

      But bloody hell he's a work-horse.

He will be a very good squad player next season and Rafa will also be able to rest him more often so he can get out even more from Kuyt.

Kuyt isn't that great option against mid or bottom placed teams in the PL, when we need more creativity, but he is an excellent option against the top clubs to open up space for the other players.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

He was one of the highlights of the night for me charging up the wing. Played a lot better than I thought he could there, and probably better than he did as well. I laughed after one of his surging runs, the camera went on him and he looked completely fecked after it.

'backtrack' - To reverse one's position or policy.

'fair analysis' - calling it as one sees it.

              Spot the difference.

And just to point out in case it isn’t already glaringly obvious…..and without wanting to come over all Nic83 ….it should be noted the ardent Kuyt fans have all shifted their stance considerably since the start of the season. At the start of the season it was all “he’ll score 20 goals this season , you watch….”, etc etc.

Now, it’s “yes he’s not a very good striker but he’s a hero cos he works so hard”……..which is true!

His levels of popularity both in the ground and on the forums have soared in recent weeks. He’s gone from total chump to cult hero – fair play to him.

We've needed someone in that role since Igor left.

Couldn’t agree more. Someone lacking in technical ability, skill and finesse…but a fans’ favourite nevertheless because of his fantastic attitude.

Kuyt also has that element of comedy in his play, like Igor.

I named a cat after Igor Biscan. There’s a chance I might call the next one Dirk.

                  Then again I might not.

earlier in the season I defended him. just recently ive given him some stick. His father died and im sure that affected his football.

Whether he has enough ability to succeed at liverpool is another question. However, his recent performances have been very good. His work rate is never in doubt, even if he plays crap he still runs 10 miles.

His final end product has been better recently and his link up play good too. He has shown some very good things recently.

                    Keep going dirk.

My mum had a cat called Nigel once. Doubt it was influenced by Clough though.

He was atrocious in the 1st half but in his defence there weren't many in Red who weren't. His use of the ball was often wasteful but he redeemed himself completely and utterly with his heroic final 15-20 minutes, IMO. A real champion.

I've got two cats - Igor and Kenny. I like the balance of having a kinda crap cult hero, and The Greatest.

Maybe I could call my next two Dirk and Fernando!
