And just to point out in case it isn’t already glaringly obvious…..and without wanting to come over all Nic83 ….it should be noted the ardent Kuyt fans have all shifted their stance considerably since the start of the season. At the start of the season it was all “he’ll score 20 goals this season , you watch….”, etc etc.

Now, it’s “yes he’s not a very good striker but he’s a hero cos he works so hard”……..which is true!

His levels of popularity both in the ground and on the forums have soared in recent weeks. He’s gone from total chump to cult hero – fair play to him.

Only winding you up you were nowhere near the worst detractor, and i have never changed my stance, i dont just rate him for his work ethic.

I'm gonna have to go against the grain and say he is nowhere near good enough for us.

He is not fast enough and not skillfull enough to play either RW or CF. Yes he does work hard. But working hard is not enough.

I'll hold my hands up and say that without Kuyt we may not have progressed against Arsenal, but in reality he played as an attacking full back as we just sat back in our own half for large periods of the game.

I can't think of any other striker in world football who could have played like Kuyt has done in his past to games, but barring a small amount of games every season they would not need to. In fact I could possibly argue that putting in a quality RW would have pushed Arsenal back and limited the need to defend as much as Dirk did.

And I know you are all talking rubbish if you were to suggest to me that you would be happy with Rafa not buying a quality RW in the summer.

He's not good enough for RW and he is nowhere near good enough for CF, we all know this. Hence he is not good enough to stay at the club. Having said that there are worse players at the club who need to go before him.
        Forwards.......

If you think he is currently playing (last night excepted) in a right wingers role you need to explain what a winger is to me, He is playing as a part of a front 3, an oldstyle outside right, he spends time out wide and time in an inside right position in the channels. The reason he can perform this role is his game intelligence is very good and his energy level is frankly phenomenal. His touch could be better but so could Torres/Babel, he aint the quickest but he doesnt need to be in that position, he isnt expected to go outside players, the overlapping fullback does that.
What Dirk is is a clever player who plays to his strengths, he doesnt try things he cant do, his finishing is actually pretty good, check his goals from last season, some crackers, he has been thru a lot personally this year, he will only get better and he will be here next season and i bet he plays 40 games plus again.

I say RW because I can't be bothered typing in the above you mentioned everytime I mention that position in a post.

If you think he is good enough fair do's, but I don't. In fact he is nowhere near good enough. And I'm sorry but he has to deal with personal problems. We all get them and we all still have to go to work. We can't just have six months of whilst we feel sorry for ourselves can we? I certainley can't anyway.

I can't fault his effort one bit and I agree, he was immense against Arsenal. But the type of performance he gave and the way he played is not needed often enough to warrant keeping him. We need pace and guile from the RW position, not another bloody defender.

As lfcrules sig says - 10 goals and 11 assists, 2nd only to Gerrard who has 20 and 20 (I think)which makes him one of these vital players who don't readily catch the eye, imagine him in this formation next season with a proper rampaging full back behind him to generate the width.
The fitness and desire last night in the 90th min of Kuyt and Masher were unbelieveable
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Is the right answer! Maybe why we are looking at Rafinha?

In response to the personal issues and having to go to work Danny2006? That is so naive is beggers belief. Unless you are in a job which involves the pressure of living in the public eye your whole life, having your every movement on the pitch analysed by thousands of experts, playing for one of the biggest sides in the world and for your country I dont really think you can comment.
I know for a fact the company i work for would at least give me time off and councelling if i wanted it to deal with the grief. Dirk was renowned for being incredibly close to his father and it obviously affected him.
And as for him leaving or being replaced dont make me laugh, Rafa sees what he is and thats why he bought him, he is a piece in the jigsaw. Flashy he aint but thankfully LFC have never been a flashy side. (although 87-88 was quite flashy lol)

                  totally agree.

ok last night he had a good game, but there were plenty of times when he should have crossed the ball but clearly didn't believe in his ability to do so.

if we want to play with two right backs now its been proven without a doubt that kuyt is a last choice striker then dirk's your man.

He was a ****ing hero last night and in the first leg.

He's looking sharper and more confident now.

                    Keep it going horse.

It is great to see him playing well and getting his confidence up. It seems he is over his problems and getting used to the new role Rafa has gave him. I think a lot of people just forget he has been asked to play a new role he has never played before.
Of course we could get someone better in for the role but I would be more concerned on other areas of the team.

I knew he played there for Holland in the world cup but thought only for a couple of matches. Always thought he was used as a striker for Feyenoord, but dont really know to much about Dutch football so probably wrong.

From the famous thread on RAWK....

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

he's been asked to play a new role 'cos he's **** at the role he's been bought for. Nevermind, if so many of you on here rate him maybe some dutch team will buy him back form 7 or 8 million or we could px him for Huntelllar

Or maybe, just maybe we could keep him as a valuable asset to the squad.

Rafa says "every team needs a player like Kuyt" and he's right.
