Yeah but he previously stated that we're a better team than Chelsea, which is where this debate started. And we're clearly, currently not. We might have a better CL record, we might be in better form at the moment, but overall, as the league table rightly suggests, they are better than us. When there's a 9 point gap after 35 games, the table isnt telling porkies

Why isn't the table telling porkies !? It's a fact that Rafa had trouble adjusting to the type of football being played in the premier league, and it's certainly not a correct assessment of 'how good' a team we actually are !

So, where are you getting at next !? 9 points off in the league isn't the be all and end all to judge team's value.

Meaning: It could well be BUT, there are other characteristics to take into consideration, for example, injuries, luck etc ... It's not as straightforward as you are making it out, even more when we're more than their equals in Europe, and that for 4 seasons running.

Fredo, there are things which play a part, but league tables have ALWAYS been recognised by basically everyone, as the most accurate measure for seeing who's better than who, who is the best, who is the worst and who is somewhere in between. The best team wins the league, not by coincidence.
