In fairness the neutrals could not but laugh at that OG. It was a champions league semi. If Ferdinand had did it we would be crying laughing.
Fingers crossed for tonight then
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Last night I saw a clip on SSN showing Phil Thompson’s reaction to the goal.
A look of wide-eyed shock appears on his face,, and he throws his headphones off. Cue utter hilarity from the other mongs (you can hear Merson pissing himself) and Thommo ****ing loses it. He screams something, aimed towards Stelling, with a manic, maniacal look in his eyes. I rewound it several times but could not for the life of me work out what Thommo shouted.
Does anyone have the clip?
He shouted "pay-neeee" mate. Ian payne is the dudes name that does the soccer special

It's the initial reaction that gets me, the wide eyed thing. Saw so many people like like last night who just got up and left.
I've never heard Anfield just deflate so quickly like that before, seeing as I was three in 1989 and probably more concerned with my Thomas the Tank Engine quilt cover at the time a certain Michael Thomas scored.
Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them. John Updike
My son Foster is a fan of soccer. He was a goaltender. His brother was a defenseman. George Gillett
Reckon we can all empathise with Thommo's reaction - I know it was similar to mine. Would happily have strangled Merson if he was sitting near me last night when that happened... Unusual restraint from Thommo as I'm sure Fowler would agree.
