i'm a muslim and fasting does take its toll on me, especially in days when i have matches(union rugby or football). however, it's something that i have lived with all my life, so apart from a parched throat, it ain't all that bad.

having said that, i'm nowhere near the level of sissoko and knowing how much he runs per game, fasting might have a greater effect on him.

but just to point out something that you guys seem to have missed out, rafa has worked with sissoko for a good 4/5 years now and as such, he is fully aware of momo's nutritional needs during the fasting month. so bascially, there's nothing much to worry about, methinks.

But could he do his fasting on another time during the year ? I mean, when the football season is off or something like that or does it have to be strictly during that period ?

Now that fatman closed down his Melwood gallery, we won't be able to check on Momo and the ramadan effect... Bugger!

The fact that the thread was hi-jacked by others was not my fault.
wasn't directed at you, more a general observation.

Nope. This is the month of Ramadhan. Lasts for 30/31 days and each year, it starts 10 days earlier, meaning that sometime soon, the fasts will be during the middle of summer (longer days).

He can't do the fasts any other time. Bit like saying, can't someone celebrate Crimbo in the middle of March

FFS you lot! Momo has been a pro now for years and has always observed ramadan. If it didn't cause him any problems in any other year then why should it this time? I too remember a tedious 11 page thread on koptalk on this very subject last year, and he was as good as ever during that period.

Tony Adams was one of the best two centre backs in England, and probably one of the top five or six in the world while pissed out of his skull. The human body is an amazing thing. Momo will be eating well and looking after himself once the sun goes down during Ramadan, and will come to no harm. I hope that this thread has at least served to educate a few people along the way.

Are you Calvoboy's official spokesperson, Jules?

And, by the way, in the interests of all the pedantics out there, the phrase in your signature should be might have not might of. An all too common mistake...

There are clear exceptions to fasting, and some of those exceptions require that they make up those lost days of fasting when they are able to, or otherwise they give to those in need. People who have to cover large distances, pregnant women, people whose illness would worsen if they fasted, young children, women on the blob, breast feeding women and a whole load of others are excused from fasting.
