    Official: Riise signing for Roma

Roma have announced that Liverpool have agreed to let them hold talks with John Arne Riise over his potential move to the Stadio Olimpico.
Reports in both the English and Italian media claim that the Norwegian left-back is close to completing his switch to the Giallorossi.

This has now been confirmed by the club who admit that they are working hard to land their transfer target.

A statement on the club’s official website reads:

“In light of recent negotiations with Liverpool over the purchase of John Arne Riise on a permanent basis, Roma can now confirm that we have received permission from the English club to talk with the player’s agent to see if we can reach an economic agreement and, if this happens, arrange a medical for the player.”

The Giallorossi seem set to capture Riise and reports claim he will sign a four year deal and that Roma will pay around €8m for the player.

Riise would be a welcome addition for Luciano Spalletti’s side as they continue to strengthen for next season.

Feel a bit sorry for Riise. Had he left a year earlier, he'd have been well remembered. But after a dreadful goalless season and that header he's unlikely to be waved off at John Lennon airport. Surely a yesterday man. All the same, best of luck in Rome JAR.

You make it sound like he's hardly ever played well for us. 348 appearances and yet you only rate 90/100 of them?

If he does go to Roma then I only wish him well. Has been one of my favourite players in the last ten years.

I've said it before but it does me fooking head in when you get 'fans' coming on here giving Riise **** as if he was a complete failure for us. Where were these people when he was cracking them in against Utd, Chelsea Arsenal? Scoring us important goals that got us valuable points/wins?

I'm no Riise apologist and am happy he is being moved on for a good fee as he has stagnated and we need the money. But I will never forget the part he's played in our past, the good things he has done/achieved with us and certainly wouldn't disrespect him by giving him **** or insulting him just becayse he made a mistake against Chelsea. he is not the first nor will he be the last LFC player to **** up in a big way.

He should be respected, remembered and appreciated for the good things he done for us, rather than it all mean nothing because of one **** up. I for one think he has earned that at least.

                          I second that man!

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

I wasn't having a dig at him, more alluding to the fact that we have apparently upgraded a position for a completely minimal fee.

£6.3m when Riise was crying that no one was interested at 5m?

Paper talk methinks or at very least that price includes incentives.
