Amen brother. He didn't miss all the chances we had in the first leg. On a scale balance a lot more good than bad. How he ever got paid that much money is beyond me!!!

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I wouldn't believe goal.com exclusively. It said it's taken from their official site but i just had a quick squiz around roma.it and I don't see anything on their mentioning Riise. I think he'll join roma, just doubt it'll be for that kind of fee.

no way will we get 6.3 million for him.

and regardless of how politically incorrect it may be my favorite memory - ginger breaking alan smith's leg in two places with a football.

Where were these people when he was cracking them in against Utd, Chelsea Arsenal? Scoring us important goals that got us valuable points/wins?

I'm no Riise apologist and am happy he is being moved on for a good fee as he has stagnated and we need the money. But I will never forget the part he's played in our past, the good things he has done/achieved with us and certainly wouldn't disrespect him by giving him **** or insulting him just becayse he made a mistake against Chelsea. he is not the first nor will he be the last LFC player to **** up in a big way.

He should be respected, remembered and appreciated for the good things he done for us, rather than it all mean nothing because of one **** up. I for one think he has earned that at least.
              Good post mate.

If he does go to Roma then I only wish him well. Has been one of my favourite players in the last ten years.

He's been a good player for us. One of our best left backs over the past 10 years or so.

Considering we signed him for £4m, he made over 300 appearances for us, scored over 30 goals (which is a top class return for a left back) won the European Cup, FA Cup, League Cup as well as a couple of Charity Shields and European Super Cups, and we are now likely to get over £6m for him, you have to say he has been a success for us and can leave with his head held high.

He deserves the support and respect of all Liverpool fans.

He gave 100% and played an important role in winning us lots of silverware. I think now is the right time for both parties to part ways and JAR can hopefully get his carrer back on track in Italy. I wish him well.

                          Riise Arrives In Rome

Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise has arrived in Rome and he's not there to go sightseeing. The defender is set to meet Roma directors with a view to making the switch to the Olimpico.
The 27-year-old Norwegian stopper is on the verge of signing for Roma and he arrived in Rome's Fiumicino airport this morning after boarding a flight from Oslo.

Liverpool have given the Giallorossi permission to hold talks with the player and if they agree a deal, he could even sign by this evening according to the latest reports from Italy.

Andrea Dossena's move to the Anfield road club mean Riise is considered as surplus to Rafa Benitez's plans and the club have put him up for transfer.

Luciano Spalletti is believed to be a big admirer of the player and he would be a welcome addition in his side as they strengthen ahead of the new season.

It is highly likely that Roma will be looking to close the deal sooner rather than later. The stopper will undergo a medical if a deal is reached between club and player.

He will love it over thier swapping shirts with Kaka,Maldini,Ibrahimovic etc.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

The guy has given a good few years service and has been a decent player for us, his form hasn't been the greatest over the last year or so but people shouldn't be so harsh in their critisism.

IMO we should thank him for his service and wish him well for therest of his career (except against us obviously )
