Arbeloa had more pitch time in the opening 1/3 of our season than any other player. He was probably our most consistent squad member.

Arbeloa is one of my favourite players be gutted if he left, he's not brillant in any position but can cover quite well, has a good attitude works hard and is faster than people relise ,wont get done for pace by a attacker.

I always thought he was a better left back than right.
I don't think Darby is ready for the first team, doesn't seem physically strong enough just yet.
Imagine a right hand side of Darby and Pennent

I'd imagine if Rafa was worried about Darby then he would put Kuyt ahead of him rather than Pennant as he'd offer more protection

i think finnan is still better than arbeloa to be honest...

I though Finnan had a shocking season last year. If he hasn't regained form I think he would be a liability.

I like to hope that if we sold Arbeloa it would mean that Darby was going to get more chances. Realistically though I think as has been said by others Carragher would cover (although I do have high hopes for Degen as I really like attacking, pacy fullbacks). In a way selling Arbeloa would be an ideal test of whether Rafa really has confidence in the young players coming up as he has essentially been used as a utility defender and could potentially be replaced by using the extra spaces on the bench more to give chances to some of the 44 million young defenders we have collected.
