Good interview with Keane this. Some good quotes.

Joining Liverpool FC feels like Christmas - Robbie Keane

Jul 29 2008 EXCLUSIVE by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

"I've been a Liverpool fan all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin, and I always had a Liverpool shirt on my back.

"There are so many people out there who love this club, who would love to have the kind of opportunity that I have and I'm very grateful for that.

"All my family are absolutely massive Liverpool fans. My brother's been getting hounded with mates ringing him all the time to find out what jersey I'm going to be wearing and stuff like that.

"The majority of people in Dublin are Liverpool fans, especially the area where I grew up. All my mates are Liverpool fans and all my family are Liverpool fans, so it's going absolutely mental back there.

"My whole family are Liverpool fans. I remember every Christmas asking for jerseys and tracksuits – it's great now that I get the tracksuits for free!"
      Another MASSIVE game

I think he is a good player who will prove a useful addition. My concern is that we ARE skint, but yet we've overpaid for him.

More interestingly is the effect on formation. It would appear to my uncultured football brain that we will play Torres as the out and out striker (a role which Keane can fulfill if required) with Gerrard, Keane and a n other behind them - Babel, Benny, Kuyt, even Voronin

I find it strange that people keep talking about the requirement for width, because it seems apparent for me that Rafa wants the width to come from two potential areas - forwards who can also play wing and attacking full backs (I believe they are now known as 'wing-backs'...). Supposing we bought Silva - wouldn't surprise me if he actually played inside wing, rather than out and out winger. Same with Barry - could play inside-wing or further back in the middle. Some one up there made the point that Rafa likes players who can play in two positions. Absolutely right in my opinion - I don't think Rafa thinks "Shall we play 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 this season?" I think he thinks "Who can I play such that I can play either 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 in this game?" Hence the reason why Crouch was sold - good player - one position, and I guess why we overpay for Keane - equally good in Crouch's position (in a different manner) but can also be used elsewhere, hence worth so much more.
        Really?

A couple of tomorrows papers have got that picture on their back page with the title "Double Trouble" in big letters.

                        Made me smile

Evertons brightest prospect. They call him the next Rooney. Only problem for them is that he is a red. Many Evertonians are convinced and afraid that he will make the move to us at some point. During the time we stole Adam Pepper from them, loads of them were afraid that Jose Baxter will make the move sometime in the near future.
