    Liverpool denied permit for Leto

    Interersting:

    Liverpool denied permit for Leto

Leto made four appearances for Liverpool last season
Liverpool's Argentine midfielder Sebastian Leto has been denied a work permit to play in England next season.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Reds from Lanus for a fee of around £2m in 2007, was granted an Italian passport last summer but it was later revoked.

That left Leto needing a work permit but Liverpool's application was refused by the Department of Work and Pensions.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will now look to loan out Leto and claims up to 10 European clubs want to sign him.

Benitez says he expected Leto to be given a permit and feels the decision is unfair.

"I am disappointed and it was a surprise because this is a player who has played in the Champions League and been in the Argentina squad for the Olympic Games," Benitez told Liverpool's website. 606: DEBATE
After seeing some of his performances it could be a blessing, he doesn't look ready for the first team yet

    Makar

"You have managers talking about how good he is, so I think the system needs to change.

"Now we have to look for a solution, maybe find a team for him on loan, but we have maybe eight or 10 teams in Spain, Italy and Greece asking about him.

"When you have eight or 10 teams asking about a player and he's not playing, it means that he is good."

Benitez remains confident that Leto still has a future at Anfield, however, adding: "He has a long contract, and I think he can impress and next year will be a different situation."

Leto played four times for Liverpool last season in the Champions League and Carling Cup but is yet to make his Premier League debut for the club.
    Oh I don't know.

Maybe a loan will do him good.

I personally didn't think he was good enough last season. Even for the reserves, maybe he was just trying too hard.

leto looked pants when he played 1st team last year. a loan spell in a less physical league could be a blessing in disguise.

i too haven't been impressed with leto when i seen him - granted it was only a few times.

With ref work permits tho - it is strange how for example - the uk won't issue a work permit for a professional footballer, who has a career set out in front of him and the potential to be earning thousands of £££'s a week, yet he can't get in - but there is polish workers running all over building sites!

Every game i watched him play for the ressies he was one of our best players, he always stood out and looked a level above everybody else. He did look poor whenever he played for the 1st team though, seemed to have good power and a trick to beat his man but didnt have the pace to back it up, hopefully a loan spell will bring him on

maybe that's because they are EU citizens and do not require a work permit to come over here.

btw hadnt Leto signed for Olympiakos on loan.

He looks brilliant until it comes to making a pass, a cross or having a shot. Despite looking gangly and a bit awkward he beats people for fun but his end product has been dreadful. If he can sort that he'll be a player.

were you missing the day they done geography at school ???

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

The few games ive seen him play he looks quite talented, but his lack of pace and his end product doesnt fill you with hope for the future.
Maybe sending him on loan for a year to greece or a lower standard league would benefit him.

It's the end product which was usually woeful...

Maybe the loan will do him good. And if not then we could always sell him on.
If like Rafa says that theres 10 or so teams interested then theres a good chance we can make a profit on him. Its made a change this summer to see players leave for a profit.
