Well we might be able to get rid of him in January, and i'm sure we're probably allready working on it. So we'll save ourselves a pay off of half a year in wages from jan till the end of his contract and at 40k a week thats a lot of money. I just doubt he's going to agree to go anywhere, and will end up sitting here till contract runs out.

I'm not sure if you're confused about the contract off, we only have to pay up, if he doesn't want to leave the club, but we force him out. I'f he's happy to leave then he doesn't take another penny from us. Usually clubs put together some sor of severance package, but with only 6 months on his contract by that point, he's free to look to other clubs so I doubt he's entitled to anything.

Anyone know what side we bought him from in the first place?

At the end of the day it's the club's fault for giving Diao that contract.

Yes, he turns up every day, yes he trains every day, and yes he's available to be selected every day, so it's purely down to Rafa and his staff whether he gets games isn't it! I know it's not good to see the club waste money on him whilst he waits for his final year of his contract to run down but there isn't much we can do apart from paying him off which won't be of benefit anyway!

I've loads of 'colleagues' who sit on their fat arses doing nothing, day in, day out, and they still get their pay every month, whilst I work a lot harder than them (apart from when I'm on here!) earning a lot less money, but there's nothing that can be done about it unfortunately - that's just the way it is!

All we can do is hang on 'til that farce of a contract runs down next summer and boot him out of the club as hard as we can!

I'd imagine that Liverpool have offered several severance packages to Diao to terminate his contract - however, Diao is in his rights to reject these. He'll never see anything like the money that is flooding into his NatWest account right now.

Football clubs be more stringent when drawing up contractual agreements, there should have clauses to cover this type of situation so the can sack fùcking parasites like Diao with absolutely no dispensation.

The more I think about this the more it fùcking winds me up.....Fùcking parasite!!!
There are many holes in your argument.

            1. There were no false pretences, we signed a ****e player, that is our fault.

            2. I'm sure he would love to play for us, he's just not good enough.

            3. Because you hate the player doesn't justify you calling him a parasite.

Diao is not and has never been good enough to play for us, but he didn't con his way into the team, we ****ed up royally in signing him and now we are paying the price.

sorry mate, riduculous post!! agreed he is a waste of space, it seems on one hand you are blaming diao for being crap and the other blaming the club for not being more stringent.

I lay the blame solely at Houiller, he took him in,he offered him the wages....what does Salif say.....dont give me 50k a week, give me 50p a week thats all i am worth??? or sorry gerrard i am not good enough to play for your club.

THE worse mistake the club has ever made and boy did sounness make a few howlers in the transfer market!

I tend to agree that Diao has probably been the clubs most costly mistake in the Transfer market.

5 year contract at £50k a week is £13m over the length of the contract
                    Plus £5m transfer fee
Plus the usual signing on fees etc, I bet we are looking at near enough £20m spent on him.

Still, it isn't his fault he was offered a huge wage.

We still have to pay it.

Its also down to setting an example for the next player in his position. While he's not playing he's reducing his chance of his next job being a good one so there's always the chance of him cutting a deal with us. If we pay up 100% then we've lost the most that we can.
