If this is the death knell for those pair and if they do sell up then I expect that particular stadium design to go with them. I would imagine the new owners would want to put their own stamp on things and not have a permanent reminder of H&G every time they visit.

Pity, because I liked that design but it would be a small price to pay.

The sooner these two are out of our club the better!

I was never that great a fan of the design to be honest. Seemed too wacky and likely to gate dated very soon. As long as whatever replaces it is better and bigger I wouldn't mind at all.

Liverpool FC’s loss a big community gain

Aug 29 2008 by David Bartlett, Liverpool Daily Post

FOUR community centres in north Liverpool are to be upgraded after a European grant given to Liverpool FC was withdrawn because of lack of progress on the club’s new stadium.

The schemes – costing around £5m – are funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the city’s neighbourhood regeneration programme.

The cash was originally intended for a Community Partnership Centre as part of the new LFC stadium on Stanley Park.

The timescales involved meant the funding had to be re-allocated last November, and the community centre at the stadium will now have to be fully paid for by the club.

Work is now starting on the four schemes, while Liverpool FC are supposed to begin work on their new ground next month.

Anfield Sports and Community Centre, in Lower Breck Road, will now receive £2.15m for a first-class sports hall, gym, community rooms, kitchen and changing facilities and IT suite.

The new facility will offer improved community and health services, together with employment and skills training.

Anfield Breckside Community Council will be given £1.65m to convert the crypt of the Holy Trinity Church into offices and a community hall to be used by the area council.

Breckfield and North Everton Neighbourhood Council will be getting a new sports hall, changing rooms, and multi-purpose community rooms for £624,000.

In Kirkdale, the Neighbourhood Community Centre will receive £447,000 for the renovation of the concert hall at the historic 19th century grade II Gordon Institute. It will provide additional community and sports facilities for the area, and new changing rooms and a lift will be installed.

The rest of the building will be re-decorated.

Cllr Flo Clucas, the council’s deputy leader, said: “This is the biggest investment in community facilities in North Liverpool for generations.

“Regenerating this area is a priority for the city council and a vital part of that is the contribution made by community groups.

“We were determined that when this funding became available, it would stay in this area and provide enhanced community facilities.

“The start of the building work is a major step forward and we look forward to the days when this work is completed.”

Project manager Sarah Palgrave-Neath, of 2020 Liverpool, said: “2020 Liverpool are very excited to be working on these exciting new community facilities.

“The four projects will provide diverse and much-needed improved resources to the community groups and will enable the groups to broaden their activities.

“Partnership working has been the key to the success of the projects to date.”

Tony Barrett was on ssn a moment ago. He said he knows for a fact that the arabs have not gone away. He said the fans have a right to be disgusted by this latest farce by the board. He is also uncertain the stadium will be built under the current ownership.

That's what I've thought all along, I think they're trying to get us comitted to building a new stadium which will increase the value of the club, but will sell once it's underway that way they get the benefits of the extra value but without the costs of building the stadium.

They should just go, they're not wanted and our destroying our club. Can't say if the Arabs are going to be good or not but they can't be worse then these tools.
This city has two great football teams – Liverpool and Liverpool reserves

Just has a quick look at the Irish Indo there and they had a quote from Rick Parry, when asked about the stadium being delayed he said "i've been hearing the rumours all day but i don't know anything about it, you'll have to talk to the owners", the quote was from yesterday at the CL draw.

It is incredulous that the CEO of a company isn't made aware that it's largest investment ever is about to go under, the mess the club is in at board level is unbelievable. Of course Rick might have been bull****ting when he said he didn't know but either way what a mess.

To be honest i never wanted a 60,000 seater. We would still be lagging behind the mancs. For me it wouldnt be worth moving unless we had atleast 70,000 seats

Call me cynical but the timing stinks - two weeks until our next home game (ManU) - by which time the general disgust will have diminished.

If Parry hasn't hasn't got a clue then he should go, and if he does know and bull****ted then he should go as well.

I hope Moores now resigns his honourary status ..................
