simple swap but the same could be said of our manager. after all aren't many of you talking aboutOriginally posted by Woobus View PostFinally we would all agree with Rashid due to Rafa's brand of alehouse football, the complete nonsense he talks after matches if he losses or draws and his need to spend a load of money to win the premiership.
1. how we don't have the money,
2. rafa's post match houllier type interviews
3. hoof ball played this season and indeed large parts of last.

So now we're down to saying that Rafa is like Maureen, what next.....Maureen did all those things even when he was given a fortune to spend. Rafa doesn't say he needs to spend like Chelsea to win us the prem, he just says it will be more difficult to do it without all that cash, and that his job would be easier for sure if he could buy who ever he wanted when he wanted.Originally posted by rage View Postsimple swap but the same could be said of our manager. after all aren't many of you talking about

That's not the case, so he is just saying it gets harder, especially with us standing still financially, stadium etc, and clubs like City being added to the list of near unlimited player funding.
****.......wtf am i doing in here............Rafa discussion thread.......not today thanks.

Thats what I was getting at, if he attacks Rafa for all of the above then it would just get worse under a manager like Maureen. Who plays a worse style of football, comes out with some real mad stuff in interviews and needs a pile of money to win the Premiership.Originally posted by rage View Postsimple swap but the same could be said of our manager. after all aren't many of you talking about

I know he doesnt want Maureen to manage us now, but if Maureen ever did when Rashid started on the alehouse football I think I would start agreeing with him.

Ok, so Ill add my view.
Rafa has Net spent less than Chelsea and Man Ure, that is undoubted.
Generally where Rafa has brought cheaper players the quality hasnt been there, but in a marked difference to Ged, Rafa has the 'balls' if you like to admit his mistake and move them on. Josemi, Krompkamp, Gonzales, Itandje, Nunez, Sissoko and almost Pennant.
Im not sure also how anyone cant say we have improved. Lets face it, in the glory of 2001 and the 2 years after it we struggled to get in the CL let alone compete in it, in the last 4 years we have had 2 finals and 1 s/f. I would guess that teams in Europe now dread getting us in the group or moreso the KO stages (ask Inter/Juve/Barca)
Now back to the squad, the 1st 11 in 2001 was very good IMO, after that it went downhill, compare how many teams in Europe or the PL would have wanted Dudek, Traore, Diao, Biscan, Diouf, Heskey, Smicer compared to how may teams in Europe would want Agger, Skrtel, Alonso, Masch, Riera (?), Keane, Babel, Lucas, Arbeloa?
Look at the talent and the potential (big word I know) in the reserves, brought in by Rafa and his team. Pacheco, plessis, Insua, Bruna, Nemeth, San Jose all look like players who 'could' make it, how many reserves of 2001-2004 have actually made it with us- and I also include how many of Warnock, Wright, Potter, Welsh etc have gone on to become class players who would have contributed to LFC?
We are now in a far, far better position that we were, thanks to Rafa. He makes mistakes, but he seems to be able to admit to them. The problem is that unlimited spending of MU and Cheslea mean they have pushed on also, and Wenger has had 10 years+ at building a club (and he also gets far far less press pressure than any other manager).
What would changing Rafa achieve? Most of the class Spanish players would want to leave probably, and we appear to not have a great deal of money to build another new squad and wait another 5 years.........and what is the alternative...Maureen!; isnt he manager at Inter, and dont make me laugh, would any real Liverpool fan want him after the past few years?

This thread is testament to that.Originally posted by rage View Postwhen did i say rafa was like maureen? some crazy people on here.

And if you weren't saying/pointing out that Rafa and Maureen seem to share similar unpleasant traits then you have my apologies, but that's what it looked like to me.
I however see no such similarity.Last edited by Vermilion; 10-09-08, 12:29 PM.

I really liked the post from DWW - very rational and hit the nail on the head, I thought.
The problems we have competing with the other top three is spending, not Rafa (although I do wish he preferred free-flowing attacking football to the cautious brand he obviously favours). On spending, I think the thing we lack (and this is down to the Yanks) is the ability to spend 100 million to bring in four superstars (or something like that) to bring us up to the level of the Chavs and the Scum. The stadium needs to be expanded, and the marketing needs to be much better, and we need owners with very deep pockets.

can you quote figures to back up your statement?????Originally posted by Rashid View PostHe has NET spent more than both of them these past 2 years and more than United since he joined - so I stopped reading here."Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

If you'd stop supporting LFC in those circumstances, you may as well stop now, because you're not a Liverpool fan in my view.Originally posted by Pacman View PostIf he ever became manager of Liverpool Football Club I would stop supporting the club. I am desperate for us to win the league but not at all costs and Mourinho IMO goes against everything Liverpool stand for. What he said when Cech's head got caved in about the Reading ambulance service was so disgusting it was untrue.

Principles which mean you turn your back on your club? Great principles, those. LFC is bigger than any one person, any manager or any individual, the club was here before any manager and will be here after any manager which takes the reigns.
You seem to support Rafa Benitez FC, as opposed to Liverpool FC.

Whatever mate.
