As we are under pressure more against the big teams his qualities tend to show up more. He can also exploit the space the big teams leave in defence.Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostWhere I think Kuyt fails in a lot of peoples minds is that does he give that sort of dedication, desire when he plays against a so called lesser side? We all say Kuyt is the man for the big occasion, in terms of performance, yes he is, however what the fans would like to see is that he scores against these so called lesser sides to make up for the performance that he may lack.
Against the lesser times we don't really need a winger to be top class at defending, nor will he get much chance to be un marked due to the high volume of opposing players in their penalty aea.Forwards.......

I know we don't have endless resources, my point was if we did Rafa would keep Kuyt as a squad player abd we could do a lot worse than Dirka Dirka.Originally posted by Norbert Dentressangle View PostWe don't have a blank cheque book though, thankfully. We don't play 4-4-2 so don't need a Giggs type winger. We have Reira, Gerrard, Benayoun, Babel, Keane and Kuyt to occupy the 3 postions behind Torres. Kuyt is his ever present despite having other options.Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Yes it does - that I've gotten away with very little work over the last couple of years and largely get paid to post.Originally posted by DeeTheDog View PostNice retort.
At time of writing you have 32,777 posts... it speaks volumes.
I didn't 'retort' with anything other than laughter because I couldn't be bothered with your little tit-for-tat game. You're taking this all a trifle too seriously.
However, if I must...
That is not a patronising remark. Mocking, yes. Patronising, no.Originally posted by DeeTheDog View PostHugely patronising, then you follow with "You come skipping gleefully into a Kuyt thread."
"I think you'll find..." is about as patronising as it gets.
I mock because you act as a cheerleader for Dirk Kuyt, offering up the most minor of contributions as evidence of his apparent brilliance. You skip 'triumphantly' into any Kuyt discussion if he so much as keeps possession more than a few times in any one game. Lauding him for a five yard 'assist' struck me as hopelessly desperate, as did remarking on his "several key passes that may have led to goals".
Oh! So you decide whether or not your points are valid? I see.Originally posted by DeeTheDog View PostI made three valid points about Kuyt's contibution to the game
Beg your pardon? Touch sensitive aren't we? "A personal issue"?Originally posted by DeeTheDog View Postall the while trying to turn this into a personal issue, hurling thinly veiled insults under some psuedo-intellectual, "I am student, ain't I clever remarks, with quotes. "
"Thinly-veiled insults"? Care to explain? Actually don't, I couldn't care less.
What does 'psuedo' mean?
What does "I am student, ain't I clever remarks, with quotes" mean? For the record, it's been a long time since I was a student.
Hope that 'retort' is a little more satisfactory.
Oh, and Dirk Kuyt, the £10m centre-forward, hasn't scored a home league goal since March 2007.Last edited by Shaggy; 17-09-08, 06:41 PM.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

i like kuyt. but at 14 million quid you have to think about selling, it really depends on whether he has a future at either rw or striker and if he's getting games or not. if rafa feels we have enough quality up front and that dirk can be replaced for 14 million then he will go.
i think rafa likes his work ethic and he isnt THAT bad of a footballer, just not a world class one, especially in his right wing role.“At a football club, there’s a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would offer £14m for him. I see that Jol/Hamburg story has resurfaced, although it seems a blatant re-hash of the non-story in the summer. The fee appeared to be totally made up and I'm fairly sure the club said no offer was ever received and in any case we were not looking to sell him. That said, I dare say if anyone did offer £14m, we would bite their ruddy hand off. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

i can see why jol likes him. didnt he say that ''kuyts a 20-20 striker, hell get you 20 goals and 20 assists'' or something along the lines. although kuyt didnt quite work out like the aforementioned quote you still admire his work ethic and im sure he gets more than a few assists every year.
he's an established international, proven mentality, great workrate and is a nice guy. im sure rafa would like to hang onto him aswell, if he were to sell you'd imagine he'd cost around that amount and i could see jol taking a gamble on him.“At a football club, there’s a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters.
