    bollox's

your mistaking loyal for yes man

as for Sammy and his spell at Bolton, OK it didn't work out but its not like they've done anything since he left.

And its a huge difference to being an assistant and manager.

Assistants by their nature work with the players and motivate them, are an ear for their problems a buffer between the managers desisions and the players.

can think of only one person who excelled at both Bob

for me Sammy Lee is what we want as an assistant.

Pele although he looked awefull for us when he played he did end up sorting out the defensive issues, gave Sami that break.
And as someone said he looks a coach

Loved how Sammy Lee clapped like a maniac when Babel scored against Man Utd
        We come not to play.

I think the point is that Bolton imploded as soon as he joined!

He is a great servant and LFC fan, just like Roy Evans and Phil Thompson. I love them all as a fan but I certainly don't rate Lee or Thompson as coaches from what I have seen of their teams.

When Houllier had his heart attack and Tommo took over, we went on a right tear, I'm pretty sure he won manager of the month at leasty once.
Hardly the mark of a dodgy manager.

Thommo played awful football though and kept going on about "winning ugly", it was dinasour stuff.

Thommo was the closest out of any to winning the Prem though. Gutted.

That's hardly a rebuttal is it?

From 45 seconds in is particularly damning/hilarious.

Ha Ha, that clip is deadly, never seen the documentary, it actually looks funnier than Mike Basset!

could of imploded with anyone there and the fact Sammy had to take that step from assistant to manager.

my point also was the best assistants might not make managers.

Not really true is it - he was there with Alladyce and did well. He did badly as a manager but received a lot of complements on the style he played (counter to your previous argument). No one can say that he looked a great manager but I for one would have been inclined to give him more time - I think like Roy Hodgson at Fulham a dodgy start could have been turned around. Obviously we will never know and his failure will always be a mark against him but it doesn't really say much about his as a coach or assistant any way.

I've never seen Mike Bassett but it can't possibly be as funny as 'The Impossible Job'.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

You think Thommo is a prick.

                            You love Thommo

                            Ergo you love pricks.

About time we had a person in the backroom staff who knows what it means to play and win the League with Liverpool and i am sure he will be reminding those lads just how important it is to win this season. The only thing Sammy needs to do is put up.

                              18 US
                              17 THEM

Bet he will have that up everywhere and also banging on about it.

                              WELCOME HOME SAMMY!
