Never thought I'd see that used as praise.

He has been excellent for us. Still I think that a comparison to Vidic is very high praise, so really wouldn't be too worried if Mancs want to take the piss. It is pretty clear that he has settled in to the team and is growing as a player and the fact he gets to do that and build a partnership with Carragher under less media scrutiny than might otherwise be the case in good by me.

He reminds me of Universal Soldier. I'm sure he is dead already, lives off raw meat and gets deep frozen by Rafa after each match. Looks like the money, hype and nonsense of football just washes over him and he has one objective and that is to defend the goal at all costs.

        Brilliant player!

Just to clarify...it was not a reference to Rashid, rather he is 'all over you like a rash'.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

We have finally found the replacement for Igor Biscan in terms of cult following.

Many of my friends still mention this when having a pop at him - annoying but the possibly the source of the lack of appreciation for him.

He will only get praise if he was to play for the scum as he would be a Fantastic buy by Fergie and would be called world class. But unfourtunatly he plays for liverpool who are just a small club and wil never win the league.

                  PS i am being sarcastic.

It isn't just other teams fans and the media that don't give him enough credit. I was talking to some other Liverpool fans recently who were calling him crap. They could only cite the Havant match as a reason though.

No Liverpool fan who actually watches our games and has an inkling about football would ever call him crap.

That's true, but he's only young and £6m is loose change in today's market.

                          Brilliant signing.

Not that it really matters of course, but I still get the impression Skrtel is massively under-appreciated in the game. IMO he is steadily cementing himself among the top echelons of central defenders in this country.

People may suggest his occasionally rash, overly-aggressive tendencies but in that sense he's no different to, say, Carvalho. He is a monster. A rash.

I regularly encounter fans of other clubs still questioning Skrtel...as though he's a weak link or he still has something to prove. I know a lot of Mancs who belittle him as a poor man's Vidic - which is complete horse ****.

He's been here almost 10 months now and for me the lad has been a revelation. Another fantastic signing by Rafa.
Let them doubt him, that means he will always be better than they are prepared for. We know just how good he is.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

This is pretty much what I think. Carra is in his 30's now and whist his footballing brain will ensure he lasts much longer than most (he has never relied on his speed has he!) I personally think that Agger and Skrtel are our future centre backs.

Carra is the king, but Skrtel and Agger are the future.

They should be anyhow, but I think Ager will jump ship in January, hence the reason we are looking at that Brazilian fella.

Would be a great shame though as having either Agger or Skrtel in reserve is fantastic. I don't know a better defender in world football who is currently sitting on the bench on a regualr basis. But that's probably why Agger wants to leave. He is so good he should be starting games at the top level.
