When will Martin Skrtel get the praise he deserves?

Carra is the king, but Skrtel and Agger are the future.

They should be anyhow, but I think Ager will jump ship in January, hence the reason we are looking at that Brazilian fella.

Would be a great shame though as having either Agger or Skrtel in reserve is fantastic. I don't know a better defender in world football who is currently sitting on the bench on a regualr basis. But that's probably why Agger wants to leave. He is so good he should be starting games at the top level.

I think Carra at RB and Kuyt at RM might be a step to far.. although it would completely shut up shop down the right .. perhaps play it against a very dangerous winger

That's not something I'd do (and I don't think Rafa would either) just to keep them all happy. We'd lose an attacking player in a sense to accommodate it and I don't think we can afford to do that.

That has been lifted from Bascombe's article in the NOTW. You therefore quite safely consider it nonsense. He seems to go out of his way to stir up trouble and destablise the club nowadays. Until we actually see a direct quote from Agger I wouldn't worry.

No, as highly as I rate Agger, Carra and Skerlte are playing so well at the moment that it would be madness to break them up. If for some reason that changes, then bring Agger in, but if not, what is the point of breaking up a pairing that is, at present, the best in the league?

So what happens if Skittles or Carra gets injured? Surely it's best to play the three of them together so they all build an understanding. Skittles and Agger wouldn't have played together much so playing all three against weaker opposition may help them bed in?

my problem with that is the balance is then lost because if Carra moves right you break up a central defensive partnership.

I would love to accomodate all three, but I don't think you can if we play with a back four.

I don't have a problem with that. Personally, if I was the manager, I'd rather rotate them so that they all have an understanding of each other rather than when someone gets injured and we have an important match next up. If you get my drift

Thats what training and pre season is for. The season is a long one and if Agger sticks around he will get the games he wants, as will Sami and all the other players in the squad.

Hopefully the competition for places will see the big players step up their game when they get a chance and on another positive note will convince players not good enough for us that they need to piss off to the mediocre teams they belong in.
