i reckon it is paramount that we get qualified in the CL asap so we can put it to one side and really concentrate on the league to be perfectly honest.....
also, if we are top of the league at the end of the xmas period, and presuming that we are in the CL second round, then i would not give a continental **** if rafa decided to play the reserves and fringe players in both FA and Carling Cups to be honest........ in fact i think it would be benificial to get nemeth, pacheco, darby, all game time so that they will be ready if needed for an important game......
hope this season doesnt fall apart and to be honest, i actually hope we dont sign or sell anyone of any note in jan because i feel that we could disrupt the obviously excellent team spirit we have at present (a-la newcastle '97 when they signed asprilla and batty in the winter!)

With a slightly negative (realistic?) head on, heres how i see it -
Wigan H - WIN! 3 POINTS
Chelsea A - LOSE - 0 POINTS
Portsmouth H - WIN! 3 POINTS
Tottenham A - WIN! 3 POINTS
West Brom H - WIN! - 3 POINTS
Bolton A - DRAW. 1 POINT
Fulham H - WIN! - 3 POINTS
West Ham H - WIN! - 3 POINTS
Blackburn A - DRAW - 1 POINT
Hull H - WIN! - 3 POINTS
Total - 23 points from a possible 30 but a defeat to the chavs.
Even if thats the case we would still be there or thereabouts!

Agreed. Cup wins are nice, but the league and CL should be priority. Competing on four fronts would be spreading ourselves very thin. Let the second string gain some experience and if we get knocked out of either then so be it.Originally posted by frank the tank View Postalso, if we are top of the league at the end of the xmas period, and presuming that we are in the CL second round, then i would not give a continental **** if rafa decided to play the reserves and fringe players in both FA and Carling Cups to be honest........ in fact i think it would be benificial to get nemeth, pacheco, darby, all game time so that they will be ready if needed for an important game......
Barring any nightmare injuries, I don't see that we need to make any squad changes in January. We have plenty of first team players and enough eager young lads to cover the second tier competitions.Originally posted by frank the tank View Posthope this season doesnt fall apart and to be honest, i actually hope we dont sign or sell anyone of any note in jan because i feel that we could disrupt the obviously excellent team spirit we have at present (a-la newcastle '97 when they signed asprilla and batty in the winter!)
Focus and consistancy will be the keys to a successful season, one where the team delivers #19 and #6.
