I just don't understand the point of a witch hunt on the fellow. We looked better balanced with him in the team than without.

Well the fact that you are unsure wether he's worth a spot in the squad, would suggest he hasn't been a complete waste wouldn't it. If he was a complete waste, then you'd know for a fact that he wasn't worth a spot.
