Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel will be examined by Liverpool's medical team later today to determine the extent of injuries sustained during World Cup qualifying matches last night.
The Reds number nine was substituted after 17 minutes during Spain's Group Five encounter in Belgium, while Babel made way for Ibrahim Afellay after 27 minutes of Holland's 1-0 win in Norway.
Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton this morning said:
"As soon as Fernando and Ryan return to Melwood today they will be assessed by our medical staff and only then will we be able to diagnose the extent of the injuries and the timescales involved."
Of Torres, Spain team doctor Oscar Celada added:
"He has intense pain in the back part of the thigh.
It is difficult to diagnose now exactly the extent and whether it is a question of a strain or a small tear.
"If it is a strain then he could be out for about a week."
Torres needs to tone down his sprinting. Do it when you want to get on the end of a through ball or a goal opportunity, not running the channels or chasing lost causes. His style of play means his hamstrings will be weaker than normal, look what it did to Owen.
Dirk up front with Robbie on Saturday. Stick Yossi on the right. (he scored again tonight)
Problem solved.
This fits well. Dirk got two against Wigwam at home before. We beat them that day without Torres, we'll beat them again without Torres. Zaki also got injured playing for Eygpt last weekend.

Owen changed his playing style, less sprinting and only do it when you really needs it.
The problem is that Rafa's tactic is based around that every player work their socks off.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
Seriously though, am I the only one who looks forward to home games against a Steve Bruce side in the same way you'd look forward to being anally probed by Jo Brand? Who refuses to use lube?

I suspect all of us, except perhaps Fredo, feel the same way.
TORRES COULD MISS THREE MATCHES
Jimmy Rice 16 October 2008
Rafa Benitez fears he will be without Fernando Torres for three crucial matches after the striker limped out of Spain's World Cup qualifier in Belgium.
The Anfield boss has indicated his record signing will be out of action for 10 days with a hamstring strain - ruling him out of games against Wigan, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
Benitez said: "I am very disappointed about this because it now looks like we will lose Fernando for three very important games.
"We have Wigan at home and Chelsea away in the league and Atletico Madrid away in the Champions League, so to lose any players is a big blow.
"The initial reports say Fernando is likely to be out for around 10 days and that would mean he would miss these games.
"There are too many international games and the demands on the players are too much. Someone needs to analyse this situation because it is putting the players at risk of injury.
"Maybe the answer is for there to be a two-tier qualifying system because there are too many games in the qualifiers for the World Cup and the European Championships which are not competitive but which still place great demands on the players.
"These fixtures are unnecessary and maybe it would be better if the **** countries played one another and the best of them went to play the stronger countries in the qualifiers."
Benitez's mood was further darkened by Ryan Babel's injury in Holland's qualifier against Norway.
The winger suffered an ankle injury following a heavy tackle by Blackburn's Morten Gamst Pedersen, though he has yet to be examined by club doctors.
With two key players out, Benitez wants his squad to show the strength witnessed against Manchester United, when victory was secured without the injured Torres and Steven Gerrard.
"It is important that we show our strength at times like this," added Benitez.
"We cannot do anything about the injuries so it is up to the players to come in and do a good job if they are needed."
