Yes it looks like he's fcuked his top level football career off but thats up to him. Why are judging him for it?
Define 'judging' him - i'd be interested in your definition.

As for his upbringing, what's the relevance? He's a PROFESSIONAL footballer, he's 25 not 17, and he's paid an absolute fortune, of which a fair chunk comes from US.

Why cant he act in a professional manner and simply NOT be photographed drinking whiskey from a bottle? Is it that hard to avoid?

The problem is that he's ****ing ****, and a waster to boot.

In my opinion judging him is your last statement. You're condemning him for doing something because you wouldn't do it so you can't accept there may be reasons why someone else would. We're all individuals fella and we're shaped by all sorts of things not least our upbringing and our early role models. Pennant's seem to have been somewhat lacking compared to Gerrard and co. I don't think you can underestimate that kind of thing.

At the end of the day he's not good enough for LFC so he'll be gone. I hope he sorts himself out.

Thank **** none of our star players, those held in the highest regard, have ever had 4 page spreads in the tabloids about incidents at say, christmas parties, and it's only Pennant, caught swigging out of a whiskey bottle (oh the humanity, won't someone think of the children!!) who is at the centre of this "controversy"...

So the lad was caught drinking from a bottle..big deal. He's broken no laws (ok, maybe the fashion police would like a word) and the only reason half the people on here are after him is because of who he is, and the fact that they feel he's not good enough for the club.

I'm not judging him for doing something that i wouldnt do. It's something that the vast majority of footballers wouldnt do. What do you think Rafa thought of it?

So it's only laws that matter? Professionalism and respect for the club and fans arent important? Christ.

If it had been Gerrard, i'd feel the same. Thankfully Steven Gerrard has a little bit more pride and respect when it comes to LFC.

And Carra...would you have wanted him out the club for his xmas party antics?

You seemed really incensed by all this. Does it really matter? I mean would you prefer he never went out or had a drink. What does one picture prove? I'm amazed people talk about him ruining his life. One night on the piss does not a alchoholic make.

I think it makes a big difference when you shell out £7m on someone, who can't be bothered to perform at another big club and is much more into his partying

Carra and Gerrard can party all they like because they give 110% in the red shirt on game day, game in game out. Pennant looks disinterested. That's why he comes in for so much stick.

Rooney gets caught out clubbing etc, but the fact is he performs nearly week in week out and that's why a big deal is not made of it. Pennant does jack week in week out and gets paid handsomely for doing nothing much

That was at a private party, and a journo had somehow blagged his way in. Slightly different.

Carra also didnt have a drink driving conviction, or an electronic tag. Furthermore, Carra virtually kills himself for LFC. He puts in every drop of sweat and blood, he doesnt dodge anything when it comes to doing his club justice. He's earnt the right to, at the right times, relax and enjoy himself. But even then, when was the last time he was in a situation like this? Carra's a family man, Pennant's a waster.

One mistake can happen, we're all human. But trouble follows Pennant and this is the latest in a string of incidents.

No mate, it's not about having a drink. Of course that's fairly normal, and at the right time, it's not a problem.

In Pennant's case however, he's meant to be desperate to save his LFC career, he's meant to be working to prove the manager wrong - when i say working, i dont just mean in terms of fitness. After the stuff that he's got himself into over the years, he should keep his head down and not get caught swigging out of a bottle of whiskey like that.

Drink by all means (at the right time and in moderation), but dont get photographed looking like an idiot who couldnt give two ****s about his LFC career doing down the toilet and disrespecting the fans who pay his wages.

I'd like to hear stories about Pennant working overtime on the training field and doing his bit for the local community, making himself a good role model and someone for youngsters to look upto. I dont like seeing him pissing OUR money up the wall, while his career is collapsing and he seems to be completely oblivious to it, or not really care about it.

Exactly. It's about attitude. Whether it's true or not, this makes Pennant look as though his priority is living the high life, partying, drinking etc. It makes it appear as though turning up for training is incidental and he fits his professional duties around his social life. It's sickening.

He's a bit foolish to be caught doing something which he must know he'll be slammed for in the papers, but morally speaking I've done it too so who am I to criticize.

Regarding the legality, there's no law against carrying open alcohol containers in public?
