Voronin once had 4 assists in a game. He turned out well...

I do think Lucas has a **** load more potential though.

Can't argue with that. However I'd say the majority rules and that was Lucus had a cracking game last night.

Haven't you just contradicted yourself by saying the lad played well, seconds after you stated he was nothing more then decent?

Any player in the Premier League is capable of having an outstanding game once in a blue moon.

Obviously Lucas has alot more talent than most, but it is concistency that makes a great player. A player of 70% ability, but who performs at that level 100% of the time is more useful than a player of 100% ability who performs at that level 40% of the time, and performs at 20% ability the rest of the time.

Lucas`s free kick delivery last night was top class, it was a wicked ball he placed in for Babel to head home, it didnt have so much pace but it swerved and dipped dramatically towards the end of the flight. I hope this was noted by Rafa, Stevie and Xabi
I sometimes shudder when i see Stevie or Xabi step up to take a set piece for us, their delivery has been pretty poor for a long time, even more surprising given they are superb passers of the ball.

Credit to Lucas, hopefully this will help his game improve to an even higher level.

Class performance from Lucas last night and a timely reminder to us all that he definitely has the ability to make it at Liverpool.

                          Man of the Match.

Hopefully this will give his confidence a massive boost.

I agree that his response might be a sign of good character (or good management, both, something else or more) but surely saying it has had a positive result gives licence to people to do it again in future.

That's the wrong way to go IMO, especially since we don't really know what effect it had on him.
To me he looked full of confidence from the off, looked like he had a real point to prove. Booing any Liverpool player while they play for us is disgusting in my opinion especially one that's barely out of nappies. I just liked his reaction to it (and he has gone up massively in my estimation because of it). He mentions how difficult it was for him after the Fulham game and I can’t see how anyone can think booing a player is going to be anything other than negative. He could have just as easily gone the other way, ****ting himself every time he got the ball. But I think for him, and it's only an opinion, it has turned out positive mainly due to his character.

Somebody said it earlier, but i think being away from home really helped. He looked nervous early on, and did misplace passes, but whereas at Anfield there would be audible groans, which can't do anything but make a player wince, there was no crowd reaction, hence he was able to grow into the game and establish a foothold.

I can only remember one misplaced pass midway through the game and obviously the effort he should have scored. Bar that I though he was impeccable, although not in the sense that is was the best performance ever, more so that he did everything else he attempted right. He was a bit tentative at the start and could have shown a bit more for the ball, but considering recent events that can only be expected. I was impressed how he coped comfortably even when pushed out wide right after Spearing came on, and that marauding run down the left flank at one stage also stands out.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
