Lucas was the free man, he should have done something apart from provide a few comedy moments.
Agree Carra was ****, along with the rest of the defence.

Lucas is 20 odd and a back up player Carra is a seasoned international who was buffed about by Drogba all night, Gerrard is our captain and the worlds best player according to a lot of footballing people and Essien didn't break sweat against him. I could go on, we had a near team of experienced internationals playing but it's all the young kid from brazil's fault.

It's also very hard to pass the ball to anyone when they are all hiding and not moving to make space, you're bound to be shut down if you can't pass it to anyone because they are too scared to receive the ball.
If that is directed at me mate I have wanted to see something positive from Lucas and desperately hoped he would succeed and prove the critics wrong.

He has had more than his fair share of opportunities from Rafa and on almost every occasion he has looked generally out of his depth.

Sure there were others who were pretty woeful last night, most notably Aurelio and Carra IMO, but that does not detract from the fact that Lucas is just nood good enough to play at the level that we are aspiring to. Simple as.

If it makes you feel better you can dress it up how you want but he won't make it here. If he was good enough we would have seen it by now, and what bigger opportunity than a CL Q/F?

Anyone who rates that useless, weak, ****house, pathetic cunt of a footballer deserves to be shot. He has absolutely NOTHING to his game. At least Mascherano can tackle and hassle and Didi used to be able to pass and protect.

He was the worst player on the pitch by an absolute mile. He's awful. Genuinely woeful.

He's not the reason we lost tonight, but he was a major factor.

He should be absolutely no where near Liverpool football club.

        Absolute bollocks.

Skrtel and Carra were the two worst on the pitch...by some distance too. Lucas didnt do much wrong at all, he's just the scapegoat for performances like that, he keeps things simple, and keeps the ball moving.

Skrtel was ****ing atrocious, and i hope Rafa gives Agger a game. He's twice the player Skrtel is FFS.

Worst game from Carra for a long time too.

Again I don't see how Spearing could do any worse than Lucas when Mascher isn't available...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

I guess you missed him being caught in possession virtually everytime he received the ball.

Lucas didn't do anything at all. Yes, he can play the simple ball but he seems to really bottle it in individual duals against juggernaut players. More often than not he was pressed and didn't bother advancing the play rather squaring it to fast pressed Alonso.

Lucas is not the standard required at Liverpool - he has been here for two years now and there hasn't been a sign of improvement. He might be still highly rated across Europe so hopefully we can get our money back.

Therein lies his problem. Good players can always make the space to control and keep the play flowing. Lucas, unfortunately finds this aspect very difficult and seems to get caught in the headlights of the opposing players, choosing to turn into traffic time and time again rather than into space.

what about Agger - can't be any worse than Lucas.

The problem last night is Chelsea cancelled out all our top players and didn't have too with Lucas.
Which ment they had one spare player miles better than our spare player.
Like in a game of chess - if you can get rid of equal pieces but are left with a queen against a pawn you'll win

Mascher would of protected the defence better, which would of ment less corners, less goals.

Chelsea were very very good and their passing top notch but a better player along side Alonso would of made the difference.

I sometimes wonder if the constant playing of Lucas is to put him in the shop window
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

No mate it wasn't aimed at you or at anyone in particular, the point I am making is that Lucas at the moment is a squad player, a back up for when Mascher/Alonso can't play, he started last nights game well and tired as the game went on and overall didn't play well.
Neither did ANY of the other players that set foot on the pitch with the exception of Torres, Arbeloa was caught out positionally for the 3rd goal, Kuyt missed an absolute sitter straight after they made it 1-1.
                          I could go on.
He is miles better than Spearing and that is a fact. If Spearing was putting in the same performances as Lucas people would be raving about he's the next big thing but that is beside the point.
I just think it is easy to blame a young foreign lad for a poor defeat when our 2 worst players imo were Gerrard and Carra.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Yossi should have played instead of Lucas, this was a ****-up on Rafa's part. I'm surprised Rafa didn't see their midfield walking all over ours, maybe he got a bit complacent.

Where though? As a holding midfield in Lucas' position? Or move Gerrard back in to Midfield essentially breaking up what has been an immense forward partnership with Torres?

Move Gerrard back into midfield, had to be done for this game.
