Most of the time they aren't, they're grinding out results. Nothing wrong with that, it's how titles are won.

But currently they lie 2 points ahead of us, entering the last third of the season. Does that warrant this sort of hyperbole:

Because if all that's true, then we should be given massive credit for still being in contention. Not that that's likely to happen anytime soon.

we are in building though - rafa points this out himself

and yes it is a backhanded compliment to rafa and good old team spirit

and how nice it would be to prove him wrong

If we are so inferior to them, how come they're only 2 points clear with a game in hand? It's more likely the experience of winning the PL that accounts for the gap.

Yes, they've the better squad at the moment but the gap is only very small in my opinion.

For example, if they fail to win it this season then the same newspapers will be saying Fletcher isn't good enough, Giggs is too old, Berbatov is overrated etc.

      Fine margins.

But you don't have a problem with him picking Torres, who has also been "injured for ages"?

A half fit Torres is still light years ahead of Berba-nob

I'm not sure 5 points at this stage of the season is a particularly 'fine' margin. It's a very decent cushion, if they win tonight. And with us still to visit their place too.

Any cushion at this stage is a good one but a cushion that can be made up in two games should rightly be called a fine one.

Not sure i'd agree about that, especially in the context of things right now, and them being on a consecutive 8 game winning run in the league.

We have to win every game and they have to lose 2.

It's a big ask and therefore not a 'fine' cushion IMO.

The cusion is irrespective of form though as it is judged on how quickly it can be reversed and how many games remain.

It can only get finer by the margin of one game (if they beat Fulham) therefore by very definition it's has to be called a 'fine' margin even if, as you rightly say it's a big ask. If it's still a two game margin with 5 left then it's a big margin.

the match at old toilet will decide who the champions are this year, if we win, we are back in the scrap, anything else will be a disaster.

                          You're like a 50p joke book.

It is a fine whoopee cushion though.

It is a cushion yes, but there's more than one third of the season still to go.
