    Post Match thread v Sunderland

    Especially for Craig_H

Decent, composed victory, good home debut from Ngog, Masch wasn't a disaster at right back and Insua once again looked promising.

    Sunderland were rubbish.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
    Mine angry and defrauded young?

Righty oh, well front back to front.

Skrtel, looked a little edgy at times, but nothing too dangerous.

          Insua, decent enough.

Mascherano got forward very well, very high up the park. Prone to some positional indiscipline, at times forgot he was playing RB.

          Alonso, tidy enough.

Benayoun, in form, very good performance, a very intelligent player who shouldnt be being dropped on this kind of form.

          Kuyt was Kuyt.

Riera, hit and miss. The cross for the 1st goal was brilliant play, it just shows you how much difference it can make when you get in behind the fullback - something we dont do nearly enough.

Gerrard was ok, nothing special. Great desire to make up the ground and get to that header for the first goal.

N'gog, very pleased with him. I saw him in preseason and since then, i've felt he could be a good player for us. Quick, lively and bright, strong frame, does the simple stuff well in terms of laying the ball off. Very sharp and can finish. He's everything Kuyt isnt and vice versa, it's an interesting partnership. I'd like to see more of him, he has a certain spark about him and with more experience and confidence, could turn into a good striker.

Babel, very lively and direct, better cameo from him. I prefer it when it keeps things simple and just drives past defenders, never mind all the twinkle-toe ****e, just run at them with your pace and power.

Lucas, did nothing much wrong, except for a woefully poor pass in stoppage time, but kept it simple for most of the game and when he does that, it's fair enough.

Decent win and good second half.

I'd love to know what Rafa said at half time, because we came out with purpose, tempo and drive in the second half. Moreover, i'd like to know why we cant play like that from the outset.

Wishful thinking, but here's hoping that Newcastle forget how **** they are and get something tomorrow night.

Sunderland was in great form going into this game, I think this is as good as they can hope for. We were good today and restricted them from playing all over the pitch. Some very nice attacking play by us today, hopefully we'll see even more of that against real and the scum as there will be more open areas against those teams which are more attacking.

Very good home performance with such a weakened team. N'gog seems to be getting better all the time and had a pretty good game until he was taken off, I am sure that goal will do him wonders for his confidence. With Torres out injured it is good to have another speedy striker in reserves.

Actually, until United win one (or both) of their games in hand, we're in the same position as we were before Middlesbrough...actually, we're 3 points better off.

I dont think we'll be winning it, but let's keep the race alive as long as we can. If (and they're both big ifs), Newcastle can win tomorrow - and we can go to Old Trafford and win, it'll look more interesting.

We can finish 2nd still anyway.

It is nice not having to worry about the arse results anymore , and Villa won't challenge us IMO.
Fully agree wif you mate. N i wish i could just slag off some of the so called 'fans' in here, whom i i think is a real disgrace to the rest of the LFC fans out there. To those who thinks N'gog is ****...u r trully dickheads !! Cose i think he proved that given time he'll do pretty good for us. Played some excellent passes. I'm glad he scored cose he deserved it along wif Benni

Now lets hope we could start a decent run, n even if we dun win the PL eventually at least push the Mancs till the very end ...
