One Spanking Down - Fifteen To Go.

For all doubters and LFC bashers, this was for you. I want to see another Five results like that in Europe and Ten in the Premier League by the season's end. We may not win the P.L. but we'll show everyone what we can achieve.

Mate, for whatever reason these types of performances seem beyond us in the league - I think it is a lot to do with mentality, approach etc, and also the squad isn't good enough to sustain this kind of performance regularly. Probably not the night for me to be making such a post though

Yes, I saw that post and agree that this is also a big factor. Perhaps also the players are like the fans in that they have a greater level of intensity, focus, motivation for the big European games?

I think this is the case. Seen plenty matches when Anfield was as dull as a morgue. In this case, the supporters weren't doing their jobs and should also shoulder the blame for those draws who cost us the title.

I was at a league game at Anfield recently against a bottom half Prem team, can't remember who, sat in the centenary stand, and there wasnt a song sung once in the whole 90 mins. Pathetic really. Sometimes the players need to be lifted by the fans

havent been to many games this year, but the first 45minutes at sunderland was nothing short of embarrasing.

There's a massive difference between Europe and the Prem..not just in noise level but in attitude

Tonight there was a slightly heavy ball over the top by Aurelio to Babel and the guy behind us went "that's a ****in great ball that is". Guaranteed, if the same ball was played in the Premiership it would be "****in ****e"

Obviously I never go to the matches, I live in Oz, but I can kind of understand the difference in atmosphere.

Before a European tie I never get that nervous feeling, just excitement, no matter who we're playing or where.

However I'll be ****ting bricks going into a PL tie even against teams like West Brom.

Our difference in form goes some way to explaining the changes in atmosphere IMHO.

Hey Man, how are you? One can only hope for repeat performances for the rest of the season. I agree about the squad's lack of depth, as you know. But we can and should employ the same mentality and approach at every game for the rest of the season. We have nothing to lose. It boils down to Rafa and his prowess as a manager and motivator.

In the league, both the fans, and the players get nervous very easily. Quite often we don't look or sound like we believe we can beat the "weaker" sides, let alone win the title.

In Europe, well, its a different matter entirely. We know we can win, and we truely believe in the magic of European nights at Anfield. We fear nobody, and everybody seems to fear us.

Maybe its a pressure thing, I really don't know, but we seem to have a "nothing to lose" attitude in games like tonight that we rarely replicate in the league.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                              Mine angry and defrauded young?
