I am very interested in your reasoning regarding your choice of 5? Care to enlighten me?

Purely because everyone else who has been mentioned thus far are more than capable and have proved themselves as such.

For me, the most important 5 are those we have, to some extent, gambled on and have yet to prove the same level of quality/consistency as the others. It's important they get to the same level as the others or we'd be saddled with weaknesses.

              Hope that makes sense.

(Although I appreciate it looks at the original question from a different angle)

I saw the headline "Diao signs for City" . I presumed it was Man City as i didn't think he was *that* bad!!

It does make sense, and is an interesting alternative to what others (including me) have chosen.

                          1. Gerard
                          2. Carragher
                          3. Sissoko
                          4. Alonso
                          5. Finnan

I'm not surprised Finnan is overlooked as he quitely gets on in doing a consistently very good job at the back. By the end of the season I expect to see Kuyt in there and - sticks his neck out; Pennant.

                              1) Gerrard - Worlds best
                              2) Sissoko - He allows others to play and is a one man wrecking machine
                              3) Kujt - Not to early to put on 5 most important as think he is vital in the way he plays for us
                              4) Finnan - If he is injured who are we going to play there
5)Reina - I dont want Dudek back in the nets, and he enables us to play further forward

No centre backs are in because we have 3 good ones and we could cope without any one of them
Thought about putting alonso in, but without him Stevie comes into the middle and pennant/garcia can go on the right

how can nobody else think FInnan is not that important??? at the moment who the bloody else do we play there???

that's kind of by defaut tho isn't it, however he would be at number 7/8 in my list, even though i'm not really as impressed with him as some clearly are.
