Summer Signings: what do we need? who do you want?

Hleb or Kuba or Luis Suarez or Maxi as our wide option. I would not touch Barry and if we are going for a centre midfielder I would go for Flamini. Lisandro Lopez for up front and promote San Jose as Hyppia's replacement.

I'd love to see our wide positions being treated to a serious overhaul but that's not going to happen.

I think Rafa will buy:

1. A Right back.
2. A Midfielder.
3. A Winger.
4. A Striker.

I assumed it was for LB, LCM and a fairly defensive LM option.

Right back - possible upgrade for Darby which then would not be needed
Central midfielder - possibly Barry as Gerrard has established himself as a midforward.
Midforward - in case Gerrard is suspended or injured
Right winger - someone with pace and delivery.

It might bud. Fairly obvious that this is where our problems lie. I agree on your positions tho:

1. A Right back = small outlay. £2m Prob someone on a free as Alvaro is #1.
2. A Midfielder = Prob Barry. We'll get him for £7-8m (1 yr left on contract)
3. A Winger & No.10 = big outlay here. Kun + Valencia. £45m
4. A Striker = won't get top class as we only play one up front. Need a quality reserve happy to bide his time. That man is Kevin Doyle. A Rafa player of ever there was one. £7m

I figure we'll get £5m for Dossena, £7m for Babel, £3m for Voronin + £2m for a couple of ressies. Thats £17m. Don't forget that we have the money from Robbie Keane as well as this summers budget to play with so prob £45m net. That means we can spend £62 on incomings.

A summer like this really strengthens the squad as well as adding serious quality to our starting 11. I feel as if the past couple of summers have been either one or the other.

Either wayh the best signing of the year has already taken place....... Rafa for another 5 years

The likes kuyt ,alonso, reina and aurelio all derserve new contracts.
Agger is causeing a fuss he should sign quick, and stop bickering or leave.
