Gerrard is one of the best players every to grace Liverpool and there will be a day when he isn't around and believe me you'll miss him. He's our captain, our talisman and our best player. Any club or nation would have him in their team in fact they would have him as the first name on the team sheet. The fact it's taken 2 weeks to sort this lastest contract out just shows how quickly things are now moving. Everything is positive we just need 3 points tomorrow now.
You've missed the point. I'm delighted he's staying but that fact that he is, is no surprise whatsoever. The chances of him not staying for another few years were less than zero, so the contract "news" is nothing.

A bit like your posts then. So you're saying this is a non event effectively, yet you've posted twice in the thread. Start up a hobby mate, maybe cycling.

This was posted on TLW yesterday:-

Torres has agreed a pay rise on a three year extension.

Agger will sign a new contract by the end of the week

Agger's contract delay was due to a payment to his father who acts as his agent, so assumptions are that the issue has been resolved.

Not only is Torres signing (and apparently its a new 5 year deal, not a 3 year extension as previously stated), so are Gerrard, Kuyt and Aurelio.

Now the interesting news is with regards to the ownership.

The news is that Hicks is 100% staying. Gillett is almost definately leaving and the rumours are that the Kuwaitis will be coming in as 70% owners. What is being discussed is how the board will be put together.

Hicks wants to remain in control (despite only retaining a 30% share), and I hear that the Kuwaitis are willing to accept that, which seems strange to me.

Hicks is apparently willing to put in 25m for the transfer budget and wants Gillett to do the same. Gillett is skint, and Hicks is trying to use this to force his hand.

On the transfer front, Ribery, Robben, Eto'o and Villa are all on the radar, although a lot depends on the budget.

Up for sale: Babel, Dossena, Benayoun, Degen, Voronin and ALONSO!

Barry coming for 8m, but no other confirmations, although the centre back position is one he's still looking to strengthen. My guess would be at Hyypia's expense, if Agger does sign, as expected.

He called Gerard right anyway, shocking bout Alonso if that proves true too.bit sceptical bout the ownership, who buy 70 percent of something and let the minority man run it for them

Good to see how fast and easy this went through, this will hopefully stir even more positive vibes in the camp. I am baffled at how some posters are trying to put a dampener on this, we need to continue our momentum and I think the way Gerrard signed instantly is very good for squad morale, probably means he his happy.
              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Good to see Gerrard is happy, can only have a positive impact on the club and everyone involved, all we need is contracts sorted out for agger and co and we will be sorted.

He's well respected over there,it seems he's been right on things before but I don't know i'm not a member there long.

He did say Gerard was signing and there we have the proof today. We'll have to wait and see what else happens or not.

                      Me too

He stated he thinks its cos Barry will cost 8m and we can sell Xabi for 20 thus adding to the transfer pot which will help in possible pursuits of Eto'o or Villa. Plus Barry is another English man in the squad.

If we sell Xabi and end up with either of those 2 could live with it

This is excellent news.He has already said he wanted to end his career at liverpool but by signing now, there will be no bollocks linking him with a move away in the summer when the silly season starts.

I reckon he will be world player of the year if we can win either the prem or the champions lge.Preferably the prem.

Sums it all up doesnt it? Great for everyone's morale & a settled squad. Albeit that he was never likely not to commit, right now he could go anywhere else in the world.

About the rumours- still be gutted if we lost Xabi. Also his "the Kuwatis" is a bit vague innit?
                              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Would have been delighted with that last summer as Alonso had been poor for quite a while. But this season Alonso has upped his game and if he wants to stay I'd keep him.

                                Why change a winning formula?

In my eyes we need to sell the weak links in the squad and he is not one of them.

On a side note, I'd be sad to see Babel leave as I still feel he can and will come good. But I would suspect he is not happy about the amount of playing time and it could well be that is the best soloution for all concerned.
                                Forwards.......
