If Crouchie was willing to play second fiddle instead of going to Portsmouth, we would have had a perfect replacement, albeit with not much movement upfront.
Torres is paid to score goals, not to think. He better concentrate on the latter.
To be fair, I think he's right.
Gerrard + Torres = most devastating partnership in the league. Although we most certainly need genuine options when one or both are injured, when fit and on form I don't think there's a player in the world we should be breaking that up to accommodate.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.

Obviously but the strength of a squad is its competition also. They're the perfect partnership but we obviously need someone who could replace him when he's injured. I had the same discussion with dww in another thread and maybe, so as not to upset their partnership, we should be looking at having an excellent backup, one who wouldn't mind playing second fiddle.
I think, as usual, we are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Torres is simply reiterating what most of us know, that Stevie G is his perfect strike partner and he does not need another as first choice. Simple as.
"Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley
I also agree with Danny about Owen:
-Will be available on a freebie leaving us more to spend on a really top class wide player.
-Gerrard knows his game inside out and he Gerrard's.
-Despite recent poor run he knows how to find the onion bag.
-I think at this stage of his career will be prepared to play less frequently and may even ironically be in a position to play more games because of it.
-Good relationships with some of our players and coaches already.
my only thought on that would be, when them 2 worked well together it was all about exploitng owens pace something that is long gone.....Owen has changed as a player, I think as a back up i wouldnt object to having the little **** back

I rather suspect you're paid not to think.
And you earn every penny.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
