44 league starts, 35 league goals

    Utterly mind blowing.

47 goals in 67 starts, all comps.

Not just the best striker in the world - but the best striker in the world by a country mile.

Ridonkulous. Absolutely. And the best bit about that is, he is ours. Not since Rush, could we say we have the best striker in the world. People will say Fowler or Owen but this guy is special.

He is just absurdly amazing. Defies human logic and all belief.

We're so lucky to have him

I think Robbie in his pomp compared favorably to Nando, or should I say vice versa. Both were still 'rough edges' even at their best, but as finishers they've been the best we've had since Rushie.

Torres does more than Fowler or Rush did. Dont get me wrong, they were fantastic at what they did, which was mainly finishing. But Torres is a much better all round footballer, he's got more attributes than either Fowler or Rush had and he scores all types of goals, which is a measure to his general all round brilliance.

Whilst I agree with you, Fowler also scored all types of goals. Fowler was the first of the ''Sky tv'' generated superstars and he was absolutely fantastic.

Torres invariably does something extraordinary or is irrepressible every week - just like Fowler in his prime.

Fowler was fantastic but he was a different sort of player then Torres so its difficult to make comparisons. Torres's first goal against Blackburn was as good as any I can remember Fowler scoring though (and showed that same instinctive awareness of exactly where the goal was without actually looking)

I'd say Torres shows more similararites in the way he plays to Henry (rather than any striker we've had in my llifetime).

i have to admit i had my doubts about torres before we signed him,i thought he might have been a lightweight for the prem.but they soon disapeared in that first game against chelsea when terry tried to rough him up,but torres just smiled and tapped terry's cheek from then on i knew the lad doesn't take crap.and after a few games and a few goals i started to see that we've got something special at the club.

What makes these figures even more remarkable is that he has scored all of his goals from open play, not one goal from a penalty or free kick, often he will not play a full game but get replaced when it has been sewn up (eg the Blackburn game on the weekend) and theres been times (particularly when he first got here) when he was probably only given one or two chances in a game and he took it! That first goal on the weekend against Blackburn was absolutely freakish.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Quite simply the best striker in the world today.

It'll be interesting to see if he can beat Fowler's first 100 goals in 166 games was it?- although Robbie did start off as a kid.

                        He's a Rolls-Royce of a footballer.

Amazing he's ours, and I reckon he should beat Robbies tonne record.

                          He is one of us.

And the best thing is he has not even reached his peak yet.

Taking nothing away from Torres but Rush did a phenomenal amount of work other than finishing. He used to defend from the front with great tenacity.
