"Carlsberg don't make strikers, but if they did, they'd all be Fernandos!"

Some smartarse could make an advert out of that!!

Rooney is the most overrated English footballer of all time IMO. Simple fact of the matter is that the real footballing world at large does not rate him as highly as Gerrard or Torres. FACT.

He is a typically overhyped overrated decent English player elevated to a level he just is not at. IMO.

Wasn't there a banner in the Kop recently that said,
"Fernando Torres, turning Kopites gay since 2007"
"Great job, team. Head back to base for debriefing and cocktails"

Second point: A whole 19 months? Wow, thats somehow significant.

Third point: Torres scored the goal that effectively won the bleeding thing. He might have not been the best player but he was extremely influential.

Fourth point: Rooney was the wildcard heading into the tournament, no one knew about him. Ultimately, England relied too much on him however for England since that tournament, he has been average at best.
Both players are quality, and both would be great together. The tournament Rooney had was better than Torres. Torres for instance did score the winning goal and will go down in history. But I would still say David Villa was the more impressive of the two in Euro 2008.

And for me, just lately Rooney has been fantastic for England. Him and Gerrard switching positions is a joy to watch at times.

Without doubt though, Rooney is not yet at the level Torres and Gerrrad are on - But I think he will be in future.

Amazing he's ours, and I reckon he should beat Robbies tonne record.
He should beat it when you look at the players he has to play with and the fact that he's a lone striker. Robbie had some utter donkeys as team-mates and had to share his goal scoring opportunities with A.N.Other (more often than not a hinderance).

I think he will get an injury soon which will keep him out for a few months, which will then lead to him overeating and get fatter and fatter and fatter and fatter until there isn't room for him on a football pitch and he will then be used as a lifeboat when the global warming melts the ice and we all need somewhere dry to live.

Dont forget Torres doesn't take penalties either, plus he is always taken off once the match is safe.

I think he was refering to his weight.
