Yeah, know how you feel, huge what if feeling, could be ahead and romping it, imagine how good that would feel for our first league in 19 yearsOriginally posted by REDrascal View PostSo sad, so very very sad
....to think that if we'd had him fit all season well....we just might have romped this damn league.
We must win the Prem while this lad in our team, i have confidence in that.
Btw, can we see stats for any other strikers in the world over last 2 seasons?
I know, for me, he's without doubt best striker in world... but is he best marksman in terms of goals/games ratio in world over last 2 years say?
He has to be close?

Yep - showing my age here but I've never seen a player work for the team like Rushy.
Torres does exactly what we need now though -staying up, linking and scoring - we've Kuyty doing the running back now

Manc fan clutching at straws:
First point: If he doesn't score - makes contribution. Not true, more likely to throw a tantrumRooney is the better all round player. If he doesn't score in a game hes more likely to make a contribution. Torres may end up scoring more goals in his career. Lets not forget that Torres is over 19 months older. I remember that people were raving about Torres in the European Championships but there were better Spanish players in that tournament. I think Rooney was more influential for England in Euro 2004 and when he went off with his metatarsal England suffered.
Second point: A whole 19 months? Wow, thats somehow significant.
Third point: Torres scored the goal that effectively won the bleeding thing. He might have not been the best player but he was extremely influential.
Fourth point: Rooney was the wildcard heading into the tournament, no one knew about him. Ultimately, England relied too much on him however for England since that tournament, he has been average at best.

All this hard work of the ball comments are fair enough, but they cant then deride Kuyt for basically the same thing.Originally posted by Joe King View PostManc fan clutching at straws:

Rooney is a fantastic player but think he needs a different manager to work for, not convinced ferguson gets the best out of rooney, Just how Benitez is getting the best out of stevie now, but to be fair that may be an age thing to._____________________________________

People are being very unfair on Rooney I think. He has been consistently very good to excellent over a number of seasons. He suffers from the fact that people have extremely high expectations of him. He is a very streaky scoring striker at club level but then he has rarely been given a hard working man ahead of him in the way the Capello has given him Heskey for England.
I think Fergusson has done very well with him actually. The problem has been finding and keeping fit a good player to play ahead of him. Clearly Berbatov was an attempt to do that which has not been entirely successful. His movement is clever but he doesn't put in a shift which is what is needed to allow Rooney to work less and concentrate on scoring/providing."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

agree with all of that. rooney is class and i was really disappointed we weren't in a position to put in a bid for him. his bad patch last season coincided with a great scoring run for ronaldo. now that he's back on form he's carrying ronaldo - who has revealed his long-suspected ubercuntishness - and berbatov who is another mincing dandy.
however, torres is twice the man and player of the whole ****in lot of them put together.Felching ≠ Gerbilling
