I love the fact that Rafa recognises the history and the importance of having some of the old guard like Sammy,Ablet and now possibly Kenny. Hope this comes to fruition.

Great if it happens though, Dalglish back at the club in any capacity can only be positive, such a great footballer and modest guy with it.
Another positive move by Rafa.**** OFF HICKS AND GILLETT WE DON'T WANT YOU.

The Kings speaks (from the offal)....

Sounds like he really wants to be involved. Do it Rafa!!Kenny Dalglish today admitted he would relish a return to working for Liverpool Football Club.
The Kop legend has been linked with an emotional return to Anfield to take up a role within the club's hierarchy, and says he'd be delighted to lend a hand if required.
Dalglish told LFC Magazine: "I was as far removed from the weekend's speculation about me returning to a role at Liverpool Football Club as it was possible to be, relaxing with the family at Loch Lomond in Scotland. That's not to say that the Sunday paper stories and TV debate escaped me.
"All I can say at the moment is what I've said many times in this column; if I can help Liverpool Football Club in any way, shape or form then I'm in. That's not a new revelation.
"If I can be of help to the club I love in any capacity then I'm more than happy to play any part that I can. If the manager or the people running the club think there's a role for me then I'll fill it happily.
"Similarly, if the club think the best thing for the club is for me to stay out of the way then I'm not going to take offence at that either.
"At the moment, there's not much more that I can say other than that if and when there's anything to say to the supporters - the people who keep this club alive - then they will be the first to know."

Might be reading too much in to it, but that makes it sounds like there may be something happening behind the scenes

The pieces are falling into place. This could yet turn out to be a good week hopefully.

Kenny will always be King Kenny, but he's not a great manager! He may have been but he's been away too long. He also seemed to have lost his ****ing mind when he was at Newcastle!
Happy to have him as an ambassador, great to have him working with kids and reserves.
He should have no 'Director of Football' type responsibilities at all!!
He should have no area of superiority to Raff at all!
Hs shouldn't be involved with the 1st team at all!
He should be LFC's version of Bobby Charlton at the scum, that is all."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

Director of Football system works very well when the manager and the DOF are in the same page. Look at Arsenal, they do have a DOF. But the DOF and Arsene get along very well and there is no problem.Originally posted by BillobShaisley View PostKenny will always be King Kenny, but he's not a great manager! Kenny has been totally supportive of Rafa since he came here. I cannot see him do anything to upset the relationship. Kenny is a premier league winning manager and a very intelligent football person. He was schooled in the Paisley mantra of being three steps ahead of the competition in every aspect of football structure in the club.
I am confident if given the role he will be a great person to bounce ideas for Rafa. Also I am sure if given some role relating to the academy, he will make sure that he will be up to date with the Barca, Ajax and Sevilla system. Because thats what Paisely did, be better than the best.
And the third reason is the personality. To be a successful DOF or academy head, you dont need to be a great scout or a brilliant strategists. All you need is a person who understands the game, knows whom to hire and has the ability to convince people to work at Liverpool. Kenny is as good as anyone in that area.

Ever seen Gerrard this expressive about anything not on a football pitch:
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has backed a possible return for Dalglish insisting he would support any move to bring the former Reds boss back to the club.
"Get him in," Gerrard told Sky Sports 1 when asked about Dalglish possibly returning to the club.
"It is great to see him around the place from my point of view.
"Get him in, give him any job just to have him about.
"He's superb and he is a hero of mine so to see him everyday will give me a boost, so whatever it will do for everybody else will be great."
Gerrard also feels the presence of Dalglish at Liverpool can only enhance their chances of luring the best young talent to Anfield.
"Well if I weren't at Anfield and I got the chance to meet Kenny Dalglish I know where I would be signing."
Numerous posters on TLW who follow the youth teams closely are worried about the fact that reds in the Liverpool area are sending their kids to the everton academy. Rodwell and Baxter are reds. King Kenny will help reduce that.

DOF doesn't work in the EPL. Arsene Wenger rules everything at Arsenal, what title someone may have is neither here nor there the role is not a DOF role. Whoever holds the DOF role is so annonymous I've never heard of them at Arsenal at Wenger doesn't ahve to answer to them so he's not a DOF!Originally posted by peekay View PostDirector of Football system works very well when the manager and the DOF are in the same page. Kenny is too big a personality and would distract the players, staff, press and fans if there's any confussion in that area, as such he should use his personality, fame and integrity in more suitable roles for an armchair pundit and ex-legend.
Raffa (or any appointed manager) should be in ultimate charge of all things football at LFC up until he leaves or is fired. The only people who Raffa should be accountable to is the director(s), anything else just confuses things.
Kenny has been away too long and while he won with Blackburn and an empty cheque book, he was ****e everywhere else and that was 10+ years ago! The concept of "always being 3 steps ahead" is good in theory. The practicalities of actually doing it are very different. I don't think anyone at the club is currently thinking "The best thing we could do with the accademy is to be 3 steps behind everyone else". Also if we copy everyone else, how do we ever get ahead of them? You also missed Boca Juniors off your list."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

RAFA KEEN ON KENNY RETURN
Rafa Benitez today confirmed he has spoken to Kenny Dalglish about a potential return to Liverpool for the Anfield legend.
Dalglish has been linked with a role in the club's hierarchy and earlier this week the legendary number seven admitted he would relish the chance to return to the Reds.
"I have had conversations with him and he is happy to help the club in any way," Benitez told his weekly press conference at Melwood.
"We are still talking and it is very positive."
