What position? You mean needing the mancs to drop points in three of their seven games to have a chance at winning the league?

All those home draws, except from tonight which was just a freak game, were a result of us lacking creativity when we desperately needed it.

We do not need this "powerhouse" three man central midfield in most of our games. We just need a genius behind Torres to compliment Gerrard.

I think you'll find most of our points were dropped playing 442, or at least a bigger percentage.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Gerrard will still be given the license to burst forward if he's partnered with Alonso in the middle, he might even get more space playing there.

Look what Essien did to him in the CL, he's prone to being marked out of the game against top sides there. Benayoun doesn't need space, he's clever enough to thread an attack in tight areas, which makes him invaluable for us.

        Alonso Gerrard
        Benayoun
        Torres

        is better than

        Alonso Masch
        Gerrard
        Torres
I don't see how you can leave Mascherano out though, especially after conceding 4 tonight. Alonso and Gerrard offer more attacking threat but would make us more vulnerable at the back.

Also yes Gerrard was marked out of the game by Essien, but if Essien were markin Benayoun he too would have been marked out of the game. I'm not saying that Benayoun isn't a good player, but I would rather have Gerrard in that position personally because he is capable of doing that extra special something

Yeah but he can't shoot. Gerrard stays where he is, Yossi as backup

Yossi on the left. Get Riera the first plane back to Spain.

              Without Torres to boot.

After Mascherano's performance today, I think it would be better for our defence to be without him.

And if sides decide to mark Benayoun out of the game and leave space for Gerrard, we'll be laughing.

He was poor tonight. The game was crying out for width at times yet at certain periods, especially in the first half, he was continually coming inside.

He has been consistently poor this season. He has no pace, no real delivery, bottles a challenge, doesn't come up with the goods in the big games. No wonder he was £8m and what a waste of £8m. Dossena does a better job there.

Yossi was on top form tonight. Played like his life depended on.

Todays game was one of those freak results, I think we need Mascherano to do the Hamann type role in games against the big clubs and away games. He didn't have the best of games today but he's one of the best in that role

I still think Gerrard is more effective playing of fthe front than anyone, as good as Benayoun is Gerrard is in a class of his own, and for me you want you best players in the most dangerous areas of the pitch

I disagree. He was worth £8m and has been and still is, our best left sided option. But there are better players about and maybe he should not be first choice at LFC. All depends on whose available.

I'm not sure what's happened to him, he looked decent at the start of the season now he's becoming less and less effective by the game, at times tonight I didn't even realise he was playing. Left wing is a real problem position for us

i'd be happy with moving gerard back to the midfield with alonso not only to give benni and torres a chacne up top together but also cause it would take mash out the firing line. he's been pretty wank of late. slow to the ball, late in his tackles and generally pretty poor with his passing. maybe he needs a break to recharge the batteries and as we have to attack every game to try to win till the end of the season there is no reason to keep playing alonso and mash together. alonso and ste would be fine for last couple games.
