I've never really understood why keepers don't just kick more stuff away. Very often you see keepers diving or falling to try to stop shots very close to them, and fail to get down quickly enough or dive over it - when they could just boot it away. Not sure whether last night's example was just too close in and too powerful, but generally speaking.........

      He's ok.

If we had someone of genuine class, like Ribery, on the other flank I could accept Dirk on the right.

I'm sure he'd look at it himself and think he should've done better. He wasnt culpable overall for the result, but for that one goal, he should've got more behind it iMO.
If it had been a few inches either side he probably would have saved it, i think it just looks bad as it goes in so close to him. As someone mentioned they're the hardest shots to save sometimes.

He probably would expect himself to do better and i'd expect him to be self critical but i think you/we are being a bit harsh on the man.

Now our defending that's a different story although most of it was born out of over eagerness and anxiety.

I have been Kuyts biggest critic. HE has been poor up until this season. Plays well against the bigger sides where his work rate denys the opposition space, but a calamity when in possesion.

He has started to notch a couple of goals this year, and be more consistant, and more of a threat to weaker teams.

But for some unfathomable reason, the last couple of weeks he has been playing out of his skin. His approach play, passing and crossing have all been top notch. If he could play this well consistantly, he would be my 1st choice right winger. He still cant hit the target consistantly from 5 yards, but he has been among our best player on current form...

I still think we need another option, perhaps a pacey winger who can go past players, but Kuyt has shown he CAN do it. He can be more than someone who works hard.

              Well done lad!

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
